E08 error message which indicates papert jam is caused by lose or mis-alligned input paper tray (automatic document feeder). Resolve issue by powering off the scanner, opening the paper path section, removing the adf, and then re-seating the adf.

Have you tried cleaning the rollers with alcohol as suggested in the manual, and perhaps replacing the pad assembly?
