Welcome to Fixya. I would like to clarify what do you mean when you said that "it attempts to take over my Photoshop Elements program, and therefore does not install". Does this means that Photoshop is blocking the installation?

if you tried a new battery,and it wont fire up you may need to send it to olympus for service,or buy a new one

Do not have recorder connected until all software installed and then reboot computer. Once computer rebooted then connect the recorder.

i am afraid that is not possible. the best solution is to hold the voice recorder near the microphone of the phone and record.

The VN 2100PC has a USB port & cable. Once connected, a USB profile should show up in Finder, you should be able to find your recordings and copy them.

An easier way to copy data from the VN-2100PC to the Mac would be to load them on a PC and copy them over with a usb drive onto your Mac.

You could also plug it into the line-in jack on the Mac and record into GarageBand. Use a standard 3.5" TRS Male to 3.5" TRS Male cable. If you don't have a line-in port on your Mac, you can use the iMic here: http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/imic
