I have a 65 inch
This could be a power distribution problem and is or should only be a $100.00 fix at a trust worthy TV repair shop.
My tv keeps shutting down it asks me to check air
Check air flow error message appears if the vent at the back of the set is clogged. It is the primary inlet for air that is required to cool the set. You may want to verify that its not clogged. If you can't find it, then unplug it, remove the back cover and blow a can of compressed air at the cover. If the fault was indeed correctly detected, your set should work when the vent is unclogged.

It could be the lamp, they have an approximate 1 year life depending on conditions. If you bought the TV new, it has a 1 year warranty and labor you might want to contact warranty support. They will send you a new lamp.
To Receive a Replacement Lamp Under Warranty
Call (800) 553-7278. Please have model number, serial number, and TV purchase date available.
Important: All lamps replaced under warranty must be returned to Mitsubishi where they will be inspected for defect
verification.
Appendix C of the manual describes how to change the lamp. Handle with care (avoid fingerprints on the new lamp). Make sure the TV is off for at least an hour before starting.

WD-65731 OCASSIONALLY GET THE AIRFLOW IS BLOCKED
better replace all the 3 fan one of them are not working well,thats why the insulation of your of the bulb are melted because of heat from the lamp.the air blower is malfuctioning thats why you got the airflow blocked message..

I just bought a Mitsubishi
you have just bought your TV for a weeks,It is covered by a warranty (service warranty )youre going to pay for the parts replaced.about the damage inside the TV,it should be less damage or no damage on the components inside..but the screen is expensive just like buying a new TV...You can contact the dealer where you bought the TV or the mitsubishi service center near you....the screen is replacesable..

push the button labeled format until you get to 16:9
if you have satelite, there may be a button on that remote too.

The most common problem for this complaint is contaminated coolant for the picture tubes. If you look
directly into the three picture tubes you will probably see a haze in the blue
one. This is fairly common but requires a knowledgeable service man to take care of.

Get a lamp ordered asap. It won't be long and you are going to need it. You lamp is on it's last leg.
Air flow is blocked
In the 65" TVS there are 4 or more fans One of these is not functioning Probably the one over the power supply itself This will cause it to heat very quickly and shut down in a matter of about 20 seconds.
only way to find out which fan is not working isw to remove the back.

Turned on tv, no picture, only sound
the problem is likely the projection lamp .. you can replace that yourself if you are handy .. you must unplug the set and make sure everything is cool ...avoid getting finger prints on the new lamp ...here are a few places where you can get a new lamp ... you can also see what it looks like on this site ...

the lamp is likely in a cubby in the back of the set (where you used to see the bright light) ...
the lamp is mounted in a cage ... you can get the lamp already mounted in a new cage from here ...

......it costs more mounted but its easier to change and you will need a new cage if yours is damaged .. from the site above you can see what the cage looks like with the lamp already mounted ..

Sound is chopy
What is the source of the choppy sound? Cable box? When you say it fades do you mean it gets quieter or does it just blink off? Digital signal problems will cause the latter. You might check the cable box or call your cable provider about it.
