It is difficult to explain in simple terms but I will try. Google rebanding. Some radios can have their firmware updated but I don't think your PRO 2066 can. Channel numbers and frequencies preprogrammed into your scanner have changed over the past few years. When a data signal says go to channel X that channel is now Y, but your scanner is still looking for X Hope this helps

You need RS232 drivers. Try BatLabs dot com. You can't make one from just a cable.

Hi, must have a digital trunking scanner first and foremost if you want to monitor the state radio frequencies. You much has a ham radio license or 'permit' to use the scanner or even have the scanner in you car. Turn the scanner on and make sure that you don't see a "key" in the display- if you do, you first have to press and hold the key LOCK button until it beeps and allows you to use the keys. press 'manual'. press and hold 'L/O' 'lockout' for 3 seconds and it will unlock all locked out channels. now press 'scan'. if you have nothing, then press 'scan' again and press each one of the number keys to turn off and to switch on the scanning banks. Press scan, then press a number button and it will scan that bank -pick a number from 0-9 and it should scan that. If you did truly lockout everything hit 'manual' then hold down the L/O Lockout button for 3 seconds and you'll hear a beep- that should unlock everything.

It would be cheaper to buy a new one than to fix the broken one.

I had the same problem and when this happens I just press and hold the scan button until it beeps and begins to scan again.

Most police stations are using the new motorola trunking units, they are on encrypted custom band channels and you will not be able to hear them. All police helicopters are equipped with them. All i can hear where i live is Fire dispatch, I cant even hear the fire fighters responses .

finding the frequencies is pretty straight forward...
here's one easy solution..The simplest way is to GOOGLE.
go to google.com

enter "radio frequencies" and your county name and state..
you'll get the links to posted municipal services' radio freq's.
Then simply enter them into your scanner memory...

If you need the "10 codel" definitions, you can get those too so that you'll fully understand what all their abbreviations mean...

Please try this,If the scanner's display locks up or does not work properly after you connect a power source, you might need to reset or initialize it. If you have problems with the scanner, first try to reset it to retain the memory. Warning: Initializing the scanner will clear all channel memories and reverts it the state it was in right out of the box.To Initialize the scanner, turn off the scanner then turn it back on. Press 0 when the welcome screen appears. 'Please select factory tests. Exit if no key is pressed' will briefly appear. Then quickly press 1. 'Initialization clear all memory Enter to confirm Clear to exit' will briefly appear. Quickly press ENT to initialize. 'Initializing, Please stand by' then appears. Do not turn off the scanner while it is initializing. The display should then show M000 on the top line and Bank 0 CH 00 when finished.Hope that helps!!Happy Scanning

are you sure they are erased ? it's very hard to erase them maybe locked out. press [manual] then ch# example [0][0]1] or use up arrow to scroll
