Dremel while runnibg cuts out if i wiggle the case
Hi it sounds like you have a brush worn out. I would change out the brushes first and go from there. Brushes are relatively cheap and it is a good investment to check out first. You can get brushes from almost any hardware store that sells Dremel parts and accessories.

contact them direct at dremel.com and you can download a schematic which I think the locking collar/mechanism is rounded but they also have a toll free number for technical support.
I cant loosen the bit on my dremel variable 395.
Clamp the bit in a vise or with vise-grips (you will probably ruin it) to hold it while you loosen the collet. You can disassemble the tool and get the lock assembly P/N 2615297356 from for less than $2.00. Search for the part number on line for a source.
I have read the solutition that has been presented
You have to split the case and remove the entire switch/brush holder from the tool. You can use anything from picks to files to drill bits to get all of the stuck brush material out of the switch. Small files help clean up the holder area. Just be very careful not to damage or break the switch, they have been discontinued and are getting exceedingly hard to find on after-market parts sites. Depending on which version 395 you have, switches are available for a couple of them at
www.ereplacementparts.com. The different versions have a number like F0130395XX, where the XX is different for each model variation.

I beleive you will find a broken connection at the field coil. The connectors for the coil break as well as the coil wire close to the connectors. You can try to repair the coil yourself or replace it (#

The USUAL cause of these variable speed tools to not run is failure of the Triac semiconductor that controls the power to the motor. One needs to test the continuity of the motor and if that is good replace the failed semiconductor. They use a sensitive gate version and one needs to replace with exact part.
Dremel 300 variable speed mototool
OK... You have done enough troubleshooting to give you some ideas to look at.
FLAT SPOTS: No !!! That just doesn't happen. If a winding or segment goes bad then you can tell this by having it in the failed mode and rotating it a small amount. If it runs, then MAYBE you have bad winding or segment. USUALLY this is accompanied by a lot of arcing at the commutator.
I have seen a LOT of these small motors have bad connections of the wires to the brush holders. Often these are clips that seem to get marginal. Since pressure there seems to affect it a bit, look to that possibility FIRST.
If this unit has a speed control, those can be a chronic failure.
Please note that the comutator and armature is a complete unit. You cannot just rplace the commutator.

you can go to Dremel.com and they have a toll free number for assistance or they can furnish a downloadable schematic for this tool. so you can find the cupling
How do i insert a bit? I've done it before, but
press and hold the small silver button near the front/end of the tool. This keeps the chuck/motor from moving. Use your wrench to then open the chuck and insert your desired bit. Tighten while still holding the button.
