kept looking, found a manual online at dremel.com

Sounds like a switch or brushes. You can go to Dremel.com and they have a toll free number for their tech services and you can also download a breakdown for this tool.

sounds like the rubber connector between the motor and collet.i use rubber tubing and hot glue to keep it working. bad news is you have to disassemble it to install a new connector.

get a hot glue gun and go to your local hardware store and buy a piece of tubing to fit the collet shaft fill with hot glue and press it on the shaft.

like anything that gets wrenched too tight, something has to give

Unfortunatly Dremel who is owned by Bosch has discontinued that tool and parts are no longer available.

it is the coupling inside of it called a flex coupling and it seem s like it is made of wax or something. tomorrow i will go to home depot to see if they carry metal ones that won't break.

The part number you need is 2610945681 variable speed switch. I checked a couple site with no luck but I suggest you call Dremel at 1-800-437-3635 and order direct. Good luck

Return it for replacement. If your power source is good and you have pressed the ON switch/button and nothing works, it is likely faulty. If you are not familiar with pulling them apart, it is best not to! Seek a replacement (hopefully under warranty)

this homelite saw requires homelite chain oil as there is no adjustment.

You can put new grease into that bearing without removing it by following the steps in this M.S. Paint drawing I made. After a bit of protest, mine started running a lot better.

I would send it back to Dremel, they have been AWESOME to do business with, I have sent in 2 of my rotary tools, and because they couldn't be fixed, they sent me new ones at no charge, also, just bought one of their 4" table saws (off ebay) that didn't come w/an owners manula, I emailed Drwemel, and got one in today's mail, pretty kool for an item they quit making years and years ago. I have a Dremel 395 Type 3. Motor works fine, shaft doesn't turn. Took it apart to find that the white plastic or nylon flex coupling on the shaft had crumbled and the spline driver, which fits directly over the motor end of the shaft was somewhat worn. I emailed Dremel and got an overnight reply listing the 2 parts I need and the cost: Coupling is $1.00 and the driver is $1.25. Placed order by phone: 1-800-437-3635. I ordered 2 of each in case future replacement is needed. Total bill came to $7.27 including Florida tax and shipping. Can't beat that. They said it would be in the mail by tonight. (Flex coupling number is 2615294309; spline driver is 2615294308.)

I'll answer last question first. They might be cracking because they are in a bind and when turned on or inserted on the shaft there is too much pressure. Make sure the shafts are free of any debris from the original coupling, also check the bearings for wear or being so tight that they twist the coupling. Everything should move freely. And second I would recommend calling Dremel direct at 1-800-437-3635 for replacement parts. Hope this helps.
