Have Dremel MOD 395 motor runs and speed control works bot shaft won't turn--worth fixing ??? and how

Hi Larry, The tool that you require parts for was discontinued many years ago. Limited parts are available from Dremel. Inside the tool is a flex coupling and spline driver. The flex coupling is # 2615294309 and the price is about $ 1.25. This is the hollow plastic sleeve about 1" long with grooves on the inside, that goes between the motor shaft and the output shaft. The spline driver is # 2615294308 for about $ 1.00. Spline driver sits on the direct end of the motor shaft. The flex coupling sits over the spline driver. Spline driver is about 1/4", hard plastic with grooves on the outside. Total shipping for orders under $ 5.00 is $ 2.50. Orders over $5.00 is $ 4.00. There could be a tax charge depending on which state you live in. Here is how to order: Call Dremel Customer Service at 1-800-437-3635 , Monday-Friday from 7 am to 6 pm central time. VISA, MasterCard or Discover to place a Visa, MasterCard or Discover order. To order by mail: Dremel 4915 21st Street Racine, WI 53406 USA 1-800-437-3635 ext. 3636

Dremel 3100 won't release the drill bit. Button at the top is pressed in and won't come out.

The button is only to keep the shaft from turning while you loosen the collet (the nut) with the little wrench. THEN the tool comes out.

Coupling broke

I have a Dremel 395 Type 3. Motor works fine, shaft doesn't turn. Took it apart to find that the white plastic or nylon flex coupling on the shaft had crumbled and the spline driver, which fits directly over the motor end of the shaft was somewhat worn. I emailed Dremel and got an overnight reply listing the 2 parts I need and the cost: Coupling is $1.00 and the driver is $1.25. Placed order by phone: 1-800-437-3635. I ordered 2 of each in case future replacement is needed. Total bill came to $7.27 including Florida tax and shipping. Can't beat that. They said it would be in the mail by tonight. (Flex coupling number is 2615294309; spline driver is 2615294308.)

How to replace the brushes in a Dremel 395 Type 2?

I figured it out. Use a small std slot screwdriver (not a jewelers or hobby screwdriver, more like the smallest standard screwdriver in your regular tool kit). My Type 2 Model 395 has a couple small tabs. Put the blade of the screwdriver on one of the tabs (shaft of screwdriver perpendicular to the tool) and press downward (not too hard) and toward you (if right handed). The plastic tabbed cover should rotate in towards the tool. That's the brush holder and you are rotating it 180 degrees so that the brush comes to the top. It will take a couple of "bites" of the screwdriver to rotate it fully. Be careful b/c the brush is under spring tension and if you rotate it w/o care it will shoot out (my first one did). Anyway, you should see a carbon brush with a slight arc cut in it if you have any brush left. Hopefully, you have little or no brush and a spring. Then it's easy to replace (my brushes were OK and just re-seating them and my tool was OK). Note that the 90930 brushes sold at most hardware stores won't fit. They are for the Types 3,4, and 5 model 395 (and other dremel models). You need the 90929 brushes for the Type 2. My camera is klutzy. If you can't get it, let me know and I'll try to post a picture or video.
