Door not closing, bouncing back up when reaches

IF THE SENSORS ARE MOUNTED TO THE TRACK THEY COULD MOVE OUT OF ALIGNMENT WHEN THE DOOR CLOSES. WATCH TO SEE IF THE LED LIGHTS ON THE SENSORS GO OFF AS THE DOOR CLOSES.

THE TRACK COULD BE TOO TIGHT CAUSING THE DOOR TO REVERSE WHEN IT BINDS.

IF THE DOOR IS TOO TIGHT WIDEN THE TRACK AT THE FLOOR. YOU MAY NEED TO CHIP CONCRETE IF IT IS CAUSING THE TRACK TO BE TIGHT.

HOPE THIS HELPS

My garage door doesn't open

BE SURE THE EYES ARE AIMED PROPERLY.

IF THEY ARE POINTED AT EACH OTHER AND THE LIGHTS DON'T WORK YOU MAY HAVE PULLED A WIRE LOOSE - CHECK THE CONNECTIONS.

IF LIGHTS ARE ON AND IT STILL WON'T WORK, UNPLUG THE UNIT WAIT ABOUT 5 MIN. PLUG IT BACK IN & TRY AGAIN.

HOPE THIS HELPS

1/2 craftsman garage door opener is not traveling

The final locking piece on the motor shaft (the one with 2 set screws) was not far enough onto the shaft. The plastic cap that works with the RPM sensor would not sit far enough on the shaft and was not being read by the sensor.

I held the motor shaft in place from the front and pressed the ring further onto the shaft; tightened the set screws and pressed the plastic cap back on the end of the shaft.

The RPM cap sat far enough into the sensor for the door mechanism to work properly.

I have an older model, say 15 years, Chamberlain

The lighted switch is powered by the opener itself. This has the handy feature that, if the light is on, you know you're connected to the opener.

You're seeing the opposite -- no light, which means no connection, which means the button doesn't activate the opener.

There should only be two wires going from the opener to the wall switch, and they're typically 22 or 26 GA solid wires, like telephone wiring.

Given the age of your system, odds are good that one of the wires has broken off at one of the ends -- either inside the wall switch or at the back of the opener. If that's the case, just strip off a little more insulation and screw the wire down again.

If you don't see anything broken, then try this:
When you have the wall switch open and you're looking at the wires, try shorting them with a screwdriver (or just touch the wires together for a moment)
They're low voltage (24V) so you won't get a shock from them.
Shorting them should activate the opener, just as if you'd pressed the button.
If that works, but the light is still not coming on, then you've just got a broken switch. Most hardware stores or home-improvement stores will sell you a replacement for a very low price. Truth be told, you can also just put a doorbell switch on there -- they're based on the same voltage/light/switch system.

Remote does not open or close garage door; inside button flashes

What has happened is that you electric eyes are blocked or have gone out. The eyes are at the garage door about a foot of the ground on both sides. There should be a red or green light on one of them. If not some thing is blocking the beam that goes across the door. It is a safety beam so kids can nt get hurt when the door is coming down. If the beam is broke the door will go back up.

Sounds like you need to recalibrate the stop point. If its coming back up the sensors may be off alingment (make sure the lights green/amber are solid and not flickering) or the door may sense an object that isn there and reverse. You can google Chamberlain powerdrive door opener manual and dwnload it for programing instructions.

When using the remote the door comes within 8

If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses you have a door sensor problem. Make sure the lights on the sensors are not flickering. You have to look very closely to see this.
