Transmission fell apart. Looking for blueprint to reassemble.

The transmissions come as an assembled unit and there are no drawings for the internals. If you can find an old drill that is no good, use it as a guide.
Hope this helps

Dewalt 18 volt cordless drill

Use a pipe wrench on it to give yourself a little more leverage. It is simply jammed all the way open and it will release when you apply enough force.

When I use the drill there is a burnt smell

Drillbits "burn" what you are drilling when there is too much friction. That is caused by a variety of things...including...lack of lubrication for metal work...and usually a dull drill bit in wood.

If you see no smoke comming from the point of impact...it might be your drill motor..check it out when you are using it...it could be dirty and need a good cleaning...or it could be burning out from excessive or improper usage.

Cleaning up gear transmission for new grease

Once you take the chuck off use somethine to the effects of brake cleaners, Wrap everything that you do not want to get the brake clean on and clean it and then let it sit for a few minutes then go ahead and oil everything and you will be good. Safe and effect way to do this especially if you have dirt or sand in the gears

We have a Firestorm drill

There are different types of battery, the old ni-cad (nickel cadium) batts lasted longer if you let them run right down before recharging them as they had a 'memory' which meant if you charged them from half life they wouldn't charge as much after a while. The new Ni-mh (nickel metal hydrate) and li-ion (lithium ion) batterys don't suffer from this problem so you can recharge them whenever you fancy. The li-on batts don't tend to run compleetely out of charge as when tehy have lost a certain amount of power they just stop anyway. If your batt has lost some life it is possible to get it re-formatted' in some cases by having it put on a battery discharge tester. This is a bit of kit that fully discharges a battery from full in a short space of time and measures it's capacity by timing it. Because it completely discharges and recharges teh batt acouple of times quickly it can someetimes reinvigourate the batt.

Stuck ON! trigger is stuck

The only time I have seen a persistant problem like this before is when there has been a slight defect in the housing or switch. It works ok for a while, and then gets a bit scored up and that is when it usually starts to stick. You could try a bit of emery cloth/fine glass paper on the housing area that the switch button slides through. Also, when cleaning, a good thing to use is brake/carb cleaner as it evapourates quickly and is generally non conductive. It will get rid of a lot of grease, but most switches have a small amount of grease inside to stop the contacts furring up, so always make sure you spray a bit of wd-40 or someting down the switch slider shaft afterwards.

How much Voltage?

a higher voltage means more drilling power but it can also mean more weight - don't buy a drill you won't need, 12 volt drills are powerful enough for most home users, bigger models just weigh more so think carefully about what you will be using the drill for.
