Drill chuck stok in the thigt possition cant get
Sometimes this happens when you have a drill bit that slip. Take a pair of channel lock pliers, and try and turn the chuck counter clockwise. Do it sharply so the drill doesn't turn. IF that still doesn't work put the drill in reverse and try the channel locks again
How do you loosen the chuck so that a different
If you lower the torque setting, you can just hold the chuck with one hand and pull the trigger (put it in reverse), then change the bit and reverse your order of operations.
once complete, increase the torque setting to where it was.
It tells you to that you should charge the battery
The problem is your batteries are either over heating or worn out. You might also have a problem with the charger but you'll need Dewalt tech support to determine if it's good or bad.
The first thing to do is clean the contacts. Use a white plastic pencil eraser and clean all the contacts you can reach. If there are any contact you can reach with the eraser use a Q-tip that is just damp (not wet) with rubbing alcohol to clean them.
Discharge your batteries completely then put them in the freezer for 8-24 hours. Take the batteries out of the freezer and let the set 24-48 hours after that put them on the charger, they'll either charge or you need new batteries (more likely) or a charger.
HOW DO YOU PULL THE CHUCK OFF TO GET TO THE GEARS
if its a reversible drill, you open the jaws wide, and undo the left hand threaded screw inside the chuck, then put the the chuck tool in,and use that to unscrew chuck off the thread, right hand thread
How to replace chuck for DC759
First of all, open the jaws of the chuck and look inside. If there is a screw in there you should be able to do this yourself. If there is no screw (sometimes torx/star head, sometimes flat/straight head) then yo uwill need to take it to a service agent/dealer as a special jig is needed to lock the spindle/chuck.
If there is a screw you need to remove it. It will be a left hand thread so turn it clockwise to remove. It will be proabbaly be tight as it will be thread locked in the factory. Once this is removed, clamp a 10mm allen key in the chuck adn steady the drill on a workbench. The actual chuck will be a normal thread so this is removed by turning it anti clockwise. It will take a sudden impact to start it off so put the gearbox in a low gear and turn the clutch to 'drill mode'. Holdong the machine steady you can hit the allen key sharply to start undoing the chuck. It may take several hits to get it going.
Was using with a spsde bi and hit a nail. Now
You may have inadvertently hit the
hammer/drill switch and it is floating
the middle between functions.
This selector switch has a symbol
showing a drill bit on one side and a
symbol of the hammer on the other.
Engage the switch bacK into the
drill position
Chuck no tighting properly
Hi, In my experience when the keyless chuck is sticky , it is because of some substance or debris that has gotten into the mechanism. I have used air presure, and I have used copious amounts of WD 40 . to flush it out and lubricate the workings. Running it fully in both directions several times and flushing in between.
Or it has become damaged, and needs replacement ,..

Drill bit stuck in chuck can loosen it
Lock the trigger in the off position grasp the chuck and turn counterclockwise. This particular model is equipped with an automatic spindle lock mechanism. That is suppose to activate with the trigger locked into the off position.
I hope this was helpful thanks for using FIXYA. Good luck and have a great weekend. Jeff
How to change the drill head
If you man changing the chuck, take out any drill bits and look down into the chuck. You will see a screw holding it on. On many drills this screw has a reverse thread so it loosens in the opposite way to regular screws. You have to undo this screw to remove the chuck, then fit a new one of the same spec or one suitable for the drill and reassemble in reverse order.
I have 3 of these and all of them have a problem
I just took mine apart and it appears that you have to replace the entire transmission. It is an easy job and the part is about $34 much cheaper than a new drill. Really, it is one third the price of a battery. Just take the 4 screws out that hold the metal case to the plastic clamshells, slide the front of the drill off, pull the transmission out of the rear of the drill put the plastic piece with the gear indicator on the new trans, if needed, slide the new trans into place, spin the motor if needed to get the output to line up with the planetary gears, slide the front of the drill back into place, rotate the chuck to align the shaft with the transmission output, put the 4 screws back in, enjoy.
Might want to replace the brushes while you are in there as well. I am going to consider this the dewalt version of an oil change
