How to replace chuck
Usually: there is a screw inside the chuck with reversal thread. Unscrew it in clockwise direction. Once done, lock bigger allen wrench into chuck and hit the wrench with rubber hammer in counter clockwise direction. If your drill does not have spindle lock you can use Open Ended Wrench (between chuck and body) to lock spindle and then hit the allen wrench.

I have an 18volt Dewalt
Check electrical contacts in drill body where battery connects.
Check wiring inside the drill, trigger and check also brushes.
You do not have to invest 329, you can buy "body only" machine for few bucks and reuse your charger and battery packs.

If your mechanical/electrical knowledge is up to par, then yes. I'm not sure what the cost would be..but I've taken apart a few drills and replaced brushes, lubed bearings, etc.. They are fairly simple..although I know those XRPs are tanks..you must have put it through some insane force to break it. You may want to check with the warranty on them though...my friend has gotten a few, free, replacements though the depot.
Cordless drill is stuck closed
Find a way to secure the chuck like in a vise. Then change the rotation of the drill and hit the trigger. Make sure you have a good grip on drill..good luck
Dewalt 18v XRP Hammer drill
I hope this drill is still under warranty as the battery is in serious trouble. As long as the motor is turning, it should not be causing the battery to do this. Hope this helps!
Dc927 18v drill/ driver chuck dammaged How is the
Open the chuck wide open and look inside. You will see a screw that may be phillips, flat blade, allen, or torx. On my 12 volt Dewalt it is a T20 Torx so yours should be the same or slightly larger. If it is Allen or Torx make sure you get the exact size. Take the wrench and remove the screw which may be very tight so give it some force. It has left handed threads and it will loosen when turned clockwise just the opposite of what you would think. Put the drill in low gear with the clutch set to drill. Now rap the drill in cloth and place it in a vise and tighten enough to hold it without crushing it. Be careful and do not tighten too tight. Take the biggest allen wrench you have and lock it in the chuck. Now take a hammer and give the end of the allen wrench a sharp tap to turn the chuck counterclockwise. It will come out and you can then replace it. If it does not come out with the first hit then hit it harder. Once it loosens up just screw the chuck off.
Removel of chuke
Open your chuck as far as it will go and look inside. If you see a screw go to
www.ereplacementparts.com/article/890/How_to_Remove_a_Drill_Chuck.html for a good how to on this.
If there is no screw inside the chuck you have to take the drill to a Dewalt service center and have them remove it. It takes a special jig to remove it and I don't think you want to spend over $200 to remove one chuck. Do not try to use the taper-fit tool on a cordless drill, they do not use the taper fit chucks.
I need to change the chuck assembly. i have
Get a large 90-degree allen wrench. It's best to use the largest allen key the drill can accommodate, at least 3/8" to 1/2". Put the short end of the allen key in the chuck and, with the long end of the allen key pointing straight up, completely tighten the chuck.
Firmly holding the drill on the edge of a table, you're going to have to hit that allen wrench with a hammer, hard. Use the flat side of a hammer to hit the allen wrench so that the blow will spin the chuck counter-clockwise. Sometimes it can take a real hard swing, so swinging through smoothly helps.
I cannot open a Dewalt 954 cordless drill chuck.
if it is a keyless chuck soak the inside of the chuck with oil. charge the battery so you have max power. put a cloth around the chuck and use a pair of channel locks to hold the chuck and put the drill in reverse. good luck
Is it a torx or
don't know the sizes for the screw but it is the wrong way threads. when you get that out you need a very large allen wrench in the chuck and tight. lay the drill body on a work bench and hit the allen wrench hard to break it loose. it unscres normally.
I have a 14.4 volt
One thing I,ve found with cordless tool batteries is that if they're completely dead, the charger won't recognize them. Try hooking a known good battery with a charge up to the problem battery, terminal for terminal, with small jumpers. Leave it hooked up for a minute, maybe a minute and a half. this should be sufficient to provide just enough charge to bring the battery up to the "threshold level" required for the charger to recognize it. Then, simply charge the battery in the normal way. If this doesn't work, you may need new batteries, or a new charger. Hope this helps you.
