Dewalt 18 volt drill with gears slipping
Check the speed selector switch on top of the drill... it can get dirty and not fully engage. Cycle the swatch a few times back and forth and stop in your desired indent (1, 2, 3) when you feel a real positive click.
Have a dewalt cordless drill 12v one of the chucks
If you open the chuck all the way you will see a Allen wrench screw down the throat. If you can get that off you will beable to pull the hole chuck off. Turn the chuck so you can see the bottom and you should see the cruves where you can slide it back in.
I cannot remove a spade
I have had to take a pair of chanel locks before and turn it. With a quick pop at first it should let go and let you turn it normaly after that.
Drill runs for a little bit you shake it and it
could be a loose wire or the motor, I would go to Dewaltservicenet.com before removing anything. This tool might have an access cover to inspect the brushes, they are I belive a T15 torx.

Can we use the new 18 volt litheum batttery on the
Are you asking if it will fit, or if it will work, or it it is safe?
I can't tell you if it will fit, or even if it will work, but I can tell you this---
If it fits, then go ahead and try. It won't hurt anything, but they may have put the contacts in different places, so it might not work. But do not try to charge a lithium battery on an old charger.
CHARGER PROBLEMS
The flashing light indicates the charger is charging the battery (or attempting it) and if it never finishes charging you should try to charge a different battery, if the charger charges that one ok then the battery is bad.
Can the chuck be replaced on a 18v dewalt?
Hello russ_rome,
Here is the solution from the Dewalt website.
Firstly check to see if the chuck is secured with a screw, if you have a screw follow steps 1-3 else follow steps 2-3.
Step 1: Screw will have a left-hand thread and must be turned clockwise to undo it.
Step 2: Once the screw has been removed place a suitable Allen Key in the chuck and tighten the jaws.
Step 3: You should then tap the end of the Allen Key to ease the chuck off (the chuck has a conventional thread so unscrew it in an anti-clockwise direction).
Some of our high spec cordless drills will need to be serviced need to be taken to your nearest service centre to have a new chuck fitted.

BATTERY SHORTS WHEN YOU INSERT BATTERY
If it is new Nano Li-ion technology- try to fully charge battery, they work FULL power until they discharge, so they die instantly, NOT like Nickel batteries go slower till they die, so maybe that is only your first impression that it shorts...
I have a dewalt 18v cordless hammer drill but for
depends on where you drilling- wood - no hammer option needed- fast, metal- no hammer option needed- also fast, but it is concrete- sorry- hammer option needed so it will always drill slower, and drain your batteries way faster (have a spare one ready).Speaking about drilling - don't drill for too long with no breaks to cool them down, always keep an eye on gun's and battery's temperature- even if it is new Lithium NANO, do not let them overheat.
BTW- what model is yours? Is It SDS hammer drill sort of DC212KL?
My new drill suddenly stopped working even though
Is it Nano li-ion? have you got another spare battery to double- check?
I experienced the same problem with 18V Dewalt nano li-ion battery. Was fully charged, came to work- Dead!!! I was lucky I had spare one, so then i was ok, but anyways had to buy a new one. Check on these things:
1. Battery is faulty. If u have any chances to ask someone who has the same gun (voltage is very important!!! has to be the same!!!- 12V battery to 12V gun, 14.4 to 14.4, 18 to 18 etc). Put your battery into that other gun. If You find the same problem that means your battery is dead.
2.Gun with battery contacts. If you 100% sure, that batterIES (check 2 batteries, or more) are OK, check bottom contacts where u put battery in, use WD40, or similar to clean them.
3. Least common Dewalt thing (Most common in Panasonic drills) is trigger contacts.
Basically i do not know what model is your dewalt, i was only talking in general, but there are no miracles- stopped working suddenly, and what u describe new, for instance my new drill dw727kd is less than 1 year old, i was too stuppid to open that battery myself to void warranty :(
AAAAHHH!!!!!! One more thing - If you have not tried to open these screws- check your nearest Dewalt authorised repair center- new NANO batteries have 2year warranty!
Hammer-mode engagement
there should be a slider type switch on top of the drill. and there will be a picture of a hammer, and a picture of a drill. slide accross to the drill picture for drill, and hammer for the hammer drill
