I have a DEWALT DC920

try tapping on all sides of the chuck lightly with a hammer and wiggling the bit... you can also try to spray some oil into the chuck and see if that loosens the bit for you... You can also clamp the bit in a vise (or get someone with a pair of pliers) and pull, that will sometimes do the trick.

My 18 volt dewalt cordless

I would make sure that the bit is firmly installed in the chuck, you should hear clicking when the bit is tightening, this is the chuck locking itself on the but. and when going in reverse make sure you dont have your hand or have the chuck pressed against an object. If nether of these are the problem then there may be a problem with the chuck itself and should be replaced.

Take your battery to a Batteries Plus store and have them test it. I suspect you're going to need a new battery. That one is no longer taking a charge.

How do I change the drill bit?

you would hold chuck in a firm grasp as your hand around a pipe and hold tight, run drill in reverse and that should loosen the chuck and the bit. If its to tight for your hand get a pair of channel locks and hold chuck.

I have a new DeWalt

Try wrapping a cloth around the chuck while unscrewing it by hand. This may give just enough grip to undo it.

There are to parts to the chuck. You hold the ring at the edge of the chuck from turning, and then you turn the part after that, ccw to release.

Can't remove bits

I had this problem on my De Walt DW912- I simply couldnt turn the keyless chuck to remove the screwdriver bit and there was no obvious reason why.
I placed the unit on a solid surface so that the chuck/ drill bit was pointing vertical. I then used a mallet and a metal chisel to gently tap each of the 3 chuck jaws back into the chuck body. It worked!
Turned out that there was the absolute tiny amout of corrosion between the jaws, and the chuck and my tapping had just broken the siezure. I now remember that it started to rain slightly last time I used it.
Some spray release agent or perhaps WD40 would probably have done the same job but I wouldnt have believed so little corrosion could have done this so didnt realise this was the problem.

Remove dewalt chuck that is stuck

down inside the chuck head itself is a allen head screw,, it has reverse threads on it. if you have already removed this screw and the chuck is still stuck then you will need to use a small gear/pulley puller to get it to release.
(( note: if you do not have access to a puller -- stop by you local Dewalt repair shop and I am sure that they will pull the chuck off with their puller at no charge to you )).

Yes, luckily Dewalt is taking care of you. You might want to look into a 1/2' drive electric model (sorry with a cord) Alot depends on how hard the ground is but in the long run the big electric will handle about anything you throw at it. Check Sears or Home Depot both good sources for good tools

The 14 Position adjustable torque control How to

The torque settings on a drill will stop the drill from driving the screw ( or what ever you are tightening ) when it reaches a specific "tightness" . For example; the setting "1" will only tighten a screw a very little bit, while " 14 " will tightten the heck out of it.

Note: once the screw has reached it's specific torque ( or tightness ) the drill motor will continue to turn but it will disengage the driver, making a kind of grinding sound,it's perfectly normal so don't be alarmed.
