Trying to locaate one of the CST2000 string trimme...

You're right, the CST2000 is a great trimmer. I still have one that works perfectly, and my father and brother both have one too. I've been looking online but it doesn't seem there are any to be found -- eBay, Yahoo! Shopping, Google, and PropertyRoom all came up empty.

I guess the only thing to do is occasionally check online, and focus on sites like eBay or Craigslist. Hopefully one will turn up somewhere!

We have a Troy-Bilt TB525es,

Hello,

Grasp the outer spool in one hand, and turn the "bump knob" counterclockwise to remove it. Pull the spool assembly off of the trimmer head.
Separate the inner reel from the outer spool. Remove the spring from the inner reel and set it aside.
Remove the old line if necessary, and clean the surfaces of inner reel, outer spool and trimmer shaft.Cut a 20-foot length from a spool of bulk trimmer line. Use only .08-inch replacement line.
Fold the line in half and insert each end into one of the two holes located near the hub of the inner reel. Pull the line all the way through the holes, bringing the loop as close to the surface of the reel as possible.
Wind the line in the direction indicated by the arrow on the reel. Keep your index finger between the two halves to prevent them from overlapping as you wrap in tight, even turns.
Insert the one end of the line into each of the holding slots located on either side of the inner reel.
Thread the ends through the holes in the outer spool. Replace the spring into the inner reel and place the reel into the outer spool.
Grasp the outer spool and inner reel, and pull on the ends of the line to release the line from the holding slots.
Reinstall the reel and spool by placing it on the shaft and screwing the bump knob clockwise onto the assembly.

Take care.

CST2000 can't get the battery off when pushing the

Black & Decker didn't make it easy to remove the battery pack. You have to push both buttons in at the same time, while pushing the battery pack forward. It takes a little while to get good at it -- you have to hold onto the trimmer with the same hand that's pushing the buttons in, while pushing the head forward with the other hand.

If you're only taking the head off to charge the battery, you can charge it while it's still attached. The hole for the adapter is on the back of the head, so you can plug it in while it's attached to the trimmer.

Hope that helps!

The string on my spool ran out.

• Turn off the trimmer and remove the battery
• Press the release tabs on the line spool cover and remove the cover by pulling it straight off. replacement spool is AF-100
• Lift the spool of nylon line out of the hub and clear any broken line and debris
• In case of jams and tangled line unwrap about one foot (30cm) of line to ensure that it is undamaged. If it is OK rewind it and insert the line end through the eyelet in the spool hub.
• Pull the line through the hole to maintain tension while placing the
spool down into the hub with the notched side exposed.
• Press the spool down GENTLY and rotate it until you feel it drop into place. (When in place, the spool will turn a few degrees left and right freely.)
• Snap the spool cover back on.

I just bought a BD Grass Hog and after 1 h of use,

If the noise was up by the handle it may have been the drive pulley breaking loose of the shaft on the motor causing the motor to spin and stop the flex shaft of the trimmer. Another possibility would be the small belt that aids the flex shaft. If those don't fix the problem check the lock nut that bolts the flex shaft to the spool housing. If the shaft broke free from the housing the motor would still run and the shaft would turn, but the spool housing would not spin if it does it could be stopped very easily. Definately check the warranty.

Try using a thicker line when using the thinner line it is good only for grass if you should hit fence or concrete it will eat it up and you will be pulling it out every 5 minites or less.

St1000/type 1 grass/weed trimmer - How do I remove the head?

Yes, there should be a lock hole on the base of the bump head, spin around until both holes align and stick a pin through them both and the base will be locked.
Now spin the head off.
The new one will come with adapters if you need them.

My Makita Petrol Strimmer won't start

If it is a gas (petrol) trimmer...then most often it is in the on/off switch on the handle. Before you go tearing anything apart...rock the on/off switch a few times to see if it helps. www.nnyparts.com
