Just out curiosity have you ever gone into the power options and looked when it is set to go to sleep? Go to controll pannel and then to power options set them all to never and give that a try!

It cannot run without RAM so it beeps. The problem is not in the Ram.
The installation may have gone faulty.
1. Connect it to another monitor first, to see if the problem is not with the monitor.
2. Press F8 on boot and select Safe Mode, or Last Good Configuration.
3. If you have not reformatted the hard drive, try recovering the system from the hidden partition (if there was one).
3. If nothing works, Reboot from Installation or Recovery CD and Choose Repair. But read about Repair option on Microsoft Web Site: Keyword Recovery console for WinXp or Vista.
4. If you cannot repair do a clean install.
5.Or if you want to try something different Install Linux for free.

Make sure that that monitor is properly connected to on Your CPU. If this not work you may also try to removed to removed the video card of your CPU if your not using a built In video card, now if the video card removed clean using a eraser the connector of the video card to mother board

You are apparrantly using outlook express and your email client is not properly configured. You need to revisit how to state your smtp address. It should go like smtp.aim.com. And pop3.aim.com. Ensure that the account type is set to pop3.

what video card are you running in it?

reboot the computer and then press f10 this should get you a screen with a text line that says safe mode,with net or command scroll down to last settings that worked and try that ps. you really need to make a recovery disk. its that important.

Sounds like there might be debris that is keeping the door from closing all the way properly so when that happens it can make the door open up from time to time.

IF you don't have debris, could also be that the mainboard inside of the drive is going bad and causing the door to open and close on its own.

Change out the drive with a new one cause not only will that take care of the door problem but you'll have a new laser in the new drive and will last much longer.

Hey there jolen 323. The issue may be related to your power supply failing, however that would be a pain to replace, so lets consider that video idea. If iyou have a video card, remove it and connect your monitor to the onboard video. If this is effective, replace your video card. Next check your motherboard capacitor to ensure you have not popped any. Normally they are flat on top. When they begin to peak or somtimes burst, there is your problem and may also be related to power supply issues, or poor memory configuration. Also ensure your ram is in good condition and the proper type for your board. If using more than 1 stick, try removing the one furthest from the CPU, and give a test start. the only thing left is to replace Power supply if you are confident in the board. Good Luck!

If you own the computer and it is still in warrenty then i would call up HP and explain the situation and have them send you a recovery disk, if it is not in warrenty they may still do it but if it doesnt work your other option is to purchase one or to Pirate one which wouldnt be illegal if you used the product key that came with your computer.

At what point is it asking for a password? Has the computer formatted the hard drive yet? It sounds like you might be going in to Recovery Console instead of installing a fresh copy of Windows.

What you want to do is press Enter at the first screen, agree to the license, and then format your hard drive. After that, it will go through the installation without asking for a password. Remember - you'll lose all your data when you format.

first of all is the system under warrantty?
secondly the paper clip should work in any case
its either u are not applying proper presure or the clip is short ... the clip should be atleast 2 inches long and when u insert the clip at some point u will feel there is no place inside thats the time u apply presure and it should open ... its a way to open the tray which works on mechenical parts so there is no point of failure with them
