Change HP Pavilion Slimline s7520n Video Card?
The on-board RadeonXpress 200M graphics is a dog. It offloads a lot of work to your cpu, and shares system memory which ties up the bus and detracts from the memory available to the OS.
The s7520 suffers from thermal problems due to it's size and poor ventilation. It also has a very limted power supply. Therefore, your choices are also limited. If you could score Radeon X600 or X1300 with 128MB for cheap somewhere it would be a worthwhile upgrade. It does need to be PCI (not PCI-E) and half-height (low profile).

it seems your computer needs cleaning and servicing, my advice is to open your pc and use dust cleaner, you can buy a can from any computer outlet, spray all the dust out also all fans, the heat sink on the CPU,make sure also the fan that is connected via the CPU,I believe dust has accumulated between the fan and the CPU,by this the cpu cannot read the from the hard drive all because of so many dust that has accumulate between the cpu, it hard to read the data from hard drive and CPU.
hope this work for you.
Hp slimline computer cannot bring up keyboard and monitor
Buggy Motherboard... could be the BIOS could use an upgrade, Bad Battery on MB, or MB could just be bad. Data on you drive is good and recoverable. New PC ? Buy.com a Referb Box is a good choice if you are on a budget. A Turion Processor is not worth the expense to fix in my opinion. If you can do it youself, for fun, replace Motherboard, HD and CPU and re-use the rest. Buying a new one, even a real cheep one is a less frustrating solution.
My hp slimline's screen flickers violently at
That issue normally happens with the graphics card. I am not sure if you have a PCI or an AGP graphics card or an onboard graphics card. But for all of the issue, you can try updating the motherboard chipset driver, or the graphics card (incase you have the onboard or AGP graphics card).
Try logging in to BIOS stay for some time and check if the screen flickers. If the screen flickers still in BIOS, its a possible graphics issue
Is there a specific replacement dvd writer that
No.......
There are many types of CD/DVD burners to choose from and most are compatible with your computer. There are issues like appearance that may be an issue. But to be honest how many people have ever commented on how ascetically pleasing and coordinated your pc is.
The thing you do need to be aware of is the interface your current DVD uses to connect with the motherboard and power supply. If it's a newer computer then more then likely it's what is know as a SATA DVD.
The info you got with your comp should be able to tell you this.
Hope this helps.
Computer wont install windows strange problems ensue.
are you pressing any key to boot from the cd when you get that message??
after windows finishes copying all the installation files during the first stage (dos mode) of the os installation you get a reboot, after the reboot, you should get that message that says press any key to boot from the cd, DON'T PRESS ANY KEY (or you will start again), leave it cd in.. just don't press any key... hopefully the installation process will continue on it's own onto the next stage (graphical mode).
if the computer just goes back to the dos mode without you pressing anything the problem may actually be a real problem and it may require further troubleshooting..
see how that goes with the first suggestion and post back if needed.
good luck
