I have an upright Freezer ehere water collects

Usually there is a little drain plug.

Water must not be collected. If this fridge has fan assisted system with damper motor, then it is not suppose to make ice at all.

Let me know fridge make and model, so that I can be more specific.

Thanks.

Freezer is too warm. We

Hello,

Compressor is one reason why your freezer may not get cold. The compressor which is usually found at the back of the freezer helps to pump out gas/ cold air and the fan circulates this cold air in the freezer. If this compressor is knocked/defective, the freezer won't cool. Also, gas in the compressor sometimes get's finished and needs to be refilled. So, the compressor needs to be checked in a situation like this.

Fan problem is one of the most common reasons for the freezer to start failing, this is called "frost free failure." Ice can build up on the evaporator coils over time, and this ice builds up until it starts blocking the fan. The fan is responsible for circulating cold air throughout the freezer, so if it is blocked the freezer will not be able to freeze any food. You can usually check this by removing an access panel in the back of the freezer to inspect the coils. If ice is built up on the coils, a hairdryer can assist in defrosting them.

It's also possible that the fan is not running at all. If the fan is burned out or the motor isn't running, cold air can't circulate through the freezer and everything will melt. You can normally hear the fan motor switch on and off from time to time. Listen for it and if you can't hear it coming on for an extended period of time, the motor may need repair or replacement. The wires connecting to the fan may be the problem, preventing the fan from receiving electricity.

Several other problems could be keeping your freezer from freezing:

There could be leaks in one or several of the hoses in the refrigerator, which results in the cold air being lost instead of circulating properly throughout the fridge and freezer.

If you have the freezer so full that the cold air can't circulate, your food will thaw even though the freezer isn't malfunctioning. Always leave some space open in the freezer and try to not store food right up against the cooling vents.

The thermostat might have shorted out, which means the freezer can't accurately determine how cold it is. If this is the case, the refrigerator would probably not be working, either.

If your defrost drain becomes clogged, the water in the line will just refreeze over and over again, which could damage the lines as well as the fan. Always check the drain and make sure no sludge is building up in it if you have a self-defrosting refrigerator.

Always try to keep the freezer door closed for long periods of time. The more the door is opened, the more warm air is let in and cold air is released. If the door is opened frequently, the freezer could be warming faster.

I hope the above helps.....

For further assistance, please let me know.

Regards.

Hello, My name Zoltan, and I have a Maytag

Your defrost element has failed in the freezer, ice has built up in the freezer cooling cores and air cant pass through them to the fridge, you need to defrost the unit totally and replace the elements, they are at the inside rear, behind the plate, also check your internal fan is running in the freezer, could be another fault. My side by side refrigerator on the freezer side

There is a defrost heater that periodically turn on to melt the accumulated frost on the coil. The heater will warm the coil to about 45 degrees and a defrost thermostat should shut off power to the heater. The defrost cycle should only last about 30-45 minutes then the compressor should kick on. If you find that some items in your freezer are melting, or that the freezer is not maintaining temperature, then something is wrong. Hope this helps you.

Admiral 2!ADW (2001): ice on the floor of the

The discharge tube of the unit is blocked (defost the unit totally before doing this process), locate where the water discharge is located inside the freezer,,,usually lower rear of the cab, you will see a run-off chanel to a central point, it may have a small filter 5 - 10 mm hole. Remove the filter and use a piece of edge trimmer cord (500mm long) poke it down the hole till you see it appear in the evap tray located over the compressor located in the rear lower external of the unit, you will need 2 people to complete this process, 1 inside the unit poking and one looking at the collection tray over or by the compressor. you may need to thrust the cord down a couple of times to clear the blockage but it will work a treat...Regards Russ

Freezer is making rumbleing noise!

You have an abnormal compressor on running. Unfortunately , it is hard to repair this compressor. People usually replace the compressor rather than get it repaired. Prolonged this situation will increase your electricity bill.

Electrician was here yesterday and

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly,

There is no reset button. There is a thermal overload on the compressor called a KliXon and that is what should be cycling about every 5 - 8 minutes if the compresor did not start.

When there is a temporary loss of power 10 minutes or less there is a good possibility that the internal coolant pressures are way to high for the compressor to start. Unplug the unit for 15 - 20 minutes and plug it back in FIRST. (longer is better) This will give the coolant system time to equalize so the compressor can start. If after trying the unplug / wait / re-pulg routine it still does ot start or cool just repsond here and I will gladly help you.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

Kelly

How do you change out a maytag ice maker model

If you are trying to unplug the harness from the ice maker housing, take a small screwdriver and press in on the tab that locks the harness into the ice maker. If you are trying to remove the harness from the back or side wall, there is a small tab on the side of the plug that needs to be pulled out to unlock it.

Ice maker not making ice

Hello there:
There's no ice If your ice maker has stopped producing ice completely, check these, in this order: It may be turned off. Look for the wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If the wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. If so, try one of these: bullet.jpg If your ice maker has a small red plastic lever, lower it to lower the wire. bullet.jpg If there's no plastic lever, simply lower the wire. bullet.jpg In either case, the ice maker should begin producing ice again. Also make sure that the temperature is 8 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. If the freezer is too warm, the ice maker won't cycle properly. The ice maker fill tube may be blocked with ice. If so, melt the blockage using a hair dryer-but be careful to not melt any plastic parts! Also replace the water shut-off valve or water-inlet valve, or both, if necessary. The ice maker head assembly may have broken parts. Look to see if the gears are broken. Check to see if the small plastic arms that rest against the ice rake are broken. If the ice maker head assembly is modular and you've found broken parts, you can just replace it.

Maytag Freezer quit working, Light is on, but not

According to your wiring diagram this is about the simplest machine in the world to work on. a369c99.gifMounted on your compressor is a relay. The relay allows all the copper windings in the compressor to be energized momentarily to get the motor in the compressor started, then it drops half the cooper out because that's all that is needed once it is up and running. A thermostat allows current in the circuit till the desired temp is reached. I would check that relay first for signs of wear. They go bad with age. 46684ba.jpg743f4b2.jpgIf the relay is good bypass the thermostat's to see if she comes to life. If she starts working replace the thermostat.
