uninstall the zune software and then download the earliest version you can find and try it then

Does device manager recognize it as anything? Even some generic name like "usb composite device" or something like that? Or does it say Zune or something else?

If it's working at all it is unlikely to be the hard drive.
It may be a broken track or connection on the circuit board, but again it's surprising it works at all.
Try resetting it. It is so close to working properly it might work.

You need to replace your battery. It bad and will not take a charge no matter what you do.

Hi if your key pad is not working you will have to replace the key pad. Thats the only solution I know of.

Hi if the player has lost the data that was on it you need to do a reset of the firmware and see it that helps if that does not work then the HD is most like going bad and will need to be replaced.

Hi if re installing the firmware does not help try reinstalling the Zune software on your computer if thats not it then Zune should replace the player being as you just bought it.

Hi if you are getting the error 5 contact support message your HD is going bad. You can try re loading the firmware but if that does not work then the HD will need to be replaced.

Hi your HD is going bad. You can try reloading the firmware but it that does not work or cant be done you will need to replace the HD. Hope this helps

If your player will charge but want sync check the USB port for damage or the USB cable itself could be bad. If its not either of those issues then even thought the usb port does not look damaged in any way it can still have a issue with it or some thing on the main board and the main board will have to be replaced either way.

Hi you need to check the USB port on your player for damage or it could be the USB cable itself that is bad. It its not either of these issues then there's something on the main board of your player that has went out and you will need to replace the main board will need to be replaced. YOu can try what they call a hard reset and see if reloading the firmware will help

Zune batteries are replaceable. They can be purcahsed for about $10-$15 and with a little knowledge can be replaced by anyone. Check the internet for both the battery and replacement instructions. eBay is a great place to find the battery and most places even include the needed tools
