Kingston (DTIU3/2GB) 2 GB USB Hard Drive Questions & Answers
My Kingston DT101 G2 (maybe 7 yrs old) is locked for too many password attempts. What is the standard time to be able to try another password variation?
It sounds like you are experiencing an issue with your Kingston DT101 G2 flash drive, which is locked due to too many password attempts. The standard time that you will need to wait before you can try another password variation will depend on the specific settings of the flash drive.
If you are not sure how long you need to wait, or if you have forgotten the password and are unable to access the data on the flash drive, there are a few options you can try:
- Check the manufacturer's website. Kingston's website may have information on how to reset the password or unlock the flash drive if you have forgotten the password.
- Contact Kingston customer support. They may be able to help you reset the password or unlock the flash drive if you are unable to do so on your own.
- Use a password recovery tool. There are several tools available that can help you recover lost or forgotten passwords for various types of devices, including flash drives. These tools may be able to help you recover the password for your Kingston DT101 G2.
I hope this information is helpful! Let me know if you have any other questions.

How i format 8 gb usb sandisk
Usually, it comes formatted. However, you can re-format it (e.g. on a PC or Mac) using the usual disk format utilities, if you don't need any special/specific (SDHC) format features.
For instance, on a PC ... insert the USB SanDisk into a USB port. It will show up as a (storage) device on your "My Computer" window. Highlight that icon ... (put the cursor over it) ... and put your cursor on the FILE (menu) tab and click on it. It will display a drop-down menu with "Format" on it.
Click on the "Format" and it will guide you through the formatting process.
On a Mac, when you insert the USB SanDisk into a USB port, it will show up as a device on your desktop. You can use the "Disk Utilities" software (usually in the Applications - Utilities folder), to format it.

How to recover my sd card back to 2gb
If the drive is not detecting at all then the controller chip inside has failed. The best way you can recover this is to find another identical unit and remove the memory chip (it will be the larger of the two) from both drives and solder the one from the faulty drive into the donor, you will need soldering experience and a hot air gun to remove the chips (do not head these up too much, only enough to melt the solder) You will ideally have a electronics microscope to see the small pins that will be soldered. If this sounds like too much work, you could send it off to a data recover company such as ours at

Cdr king flashdrive is write protected
- Verify that you are allowed to write to removable storage devices. There may be a security setting in the OS that disables write access to removable storage devices.
- Make sure you have not enabled write protection on the drive by using a third party software.
- If none of the above apply, the drive may be defective. Contact Kingston Technical Support for further assistance.
