Either the charge circuit in the laptop is faulty or the mains adapter is faulty. When you connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED light up? If not then - The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's power socket could be faulty. Check power adapter's DC plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

Welcome to Fixya. If your having a blank or black screen on you laptop and you can see that fans are running and lights are on we need to check if this is a problem with the LCD or with the motherboard. I will provide you steps so that you will be able to determine which is the cause of the issue. Just a heads the problem is caused by a hardware failure.
To check if the problem is caused by a Motherboard or LCD you need to use an external monitor. Connect the external monitor to the laptop and tap FN + F4 on the keyboard. This command will toggle the external display. Check if you will be able to see a display on the external monitor.
If you will be able to see a display on the external monitor it means that the issue is caused by a bad LCD.
If you won't be able to see a display on the external monitor it means that the motherboard is bad. The motherboard is bad since the built in video card is not working and if you will replace the faulty video card of a laptop it means that you need to replace the whole motherboard.

if your running wireless, and it requires a WEP key, load it each time you desire to log on, online. leaving the WEP key installed would be a breech of security. if you don't have the wep key call up your isp company, and obtain it. if your company is being a d-bag with the wep key and, you need to obtain the WEP key.

o check, click windows start button, point to computer, click manage, then look for device manager. If you see an exclamation or "x" mark on your audio device this means that your audio driver is not properly installed.

Uninstall the audio driver then re-intall it again. visit www.hp.com/support and look for your audio driver if you dont have the cd installer.

by removing your battery you are not going to loss your data
so you can do it
but i think you should try this battery by abstract this battery first and than clean that chep by air and reconnect your battery you will find the solution
