I have a seagate external hard drive. There isn't

You have an issue. The part number you gave is for a 12V power supply for an external hard drive. Since a typical USB puts out 5V, it cannot possibly drive your hard drive. There is a possibly..albeit low...where you can get a plug that plugs into 2 USB ports and provide 10V but I am not sure that will be enough to drive it. If this external unit is already in a case, look for a plug that would accept the power supply pin (pix attached) 413ftddsqcl-t3wyfpk5qssxovieyit11zdk-3-0.jpg Semper Fi, Z

My external hdd has is not detecting

Seagate is a company that manufactures external hard drives.

These hard drives can be used to house large files or even to backup an entire hard drive.

When your Seagate external hard drive is not working properly, you might ready to send it into the company for repair.

Before you send it away, you can troubleshoot the problem and potentially save yourself a lot of time and grief.

Look over the power cable going from the wall outlet to the back of the Seagate hard drive. Make sure that there aren't any breaks or tears in the electrical wiring.

If there are breaks, replace the power cord.

Look over the power cable and make sure that it is plugged into the wall outlet in your home as well as plugged into the back of the hard drive.

Plug the power cable directly into the wall outlet or into a surge protector.

Do not plug the power cable into an extension cord.

Seagate Data Cable

Disconnect all of the USB devices that are plugged into your computer's USB ports except for your mouse and your keyboard.

Disconnect the Seagate external hard drive from your computer.

Unplug the power cable from the back of the Seagate external hard drive and restart your computer.

Wait until your computer has fully booted and then plug the power cable back into the hard drive.

Look over the USB data cable to make sure that there are breaks or tears in the cable.

Look over the ends of the cable where they meet the computer and the hard drive.

Make sure the pins are straight.

Replace the cable if needed.

Plug the data cable into the back of the hard drive.

Plug the data cable into your computer.

Hope this helps.

click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager look through all of your devices if you see a yellow question mark?or exclamation mark ! or red xright click to reinstall drivers or

if you can see your usb but its not workingports(com&lpt)right click update driver

if this fails to fix the problem

check usb leads for secure dust free seating

sometimes the wires inside the cable will be damaged due to bending or stretching or placing heavy equipment upon the cable

just replace the cable of the hard disk, when you plugged the external disk drive you got that windows could recognize the USB device change the cable everything should work fine again,

check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red-white-green-black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems

if still no luckyou might have to install a usb 2 or 3 card they are cheap and easy to install you can buy these on Ebay very cheap hope this helps

Hi, My FreeAgent Go portable hard

This is a mechanical failure of the drive. You will need to get a new one. Recovering the files off of this can be very expensive.

Dear sir, it,s sumit agrawal.my 2tb

try other usb port, or other computer and see whether the hdd is detected. If still not, try to go to device manager ( http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000833.htm ), and then assign a drive letter to the hdd. After that, try to access it from Computer, if not able to access it, format it (use quick format) and then use this data recovery program to recover your files.http://www.asoftech.com/adr/

I deleted some folders on

You probably deleted folders which were not that big in size. You can run some apps that will visualize the drive usage like JDiskReport (http://www.jgoodies.com/freeware/jdiskreport/) or SpaceMonger (http://www.sixty-five.cc/sm/). This way it will be easy for you to see what folders are taking the bulk of the space in your drive. You said you are using a Mac so use JDiskReport app which works on both Mac and PC (SpaceMonger is only for PC).

Drive is sometimes recognized but

This is a common problem with external drives, I have had it happen to Segate, WD, and a few off brand drives. Usually when one of these drives gets flaky, you have 2 options:

1. do a google search on your particular model on how to remove the drive from the case, then install in a desktop computer
2. use disk recovery software to attempt retrieval of files

The first on will work if there is a problem with the driver interface to usb board that is built into your device. By installing in a desktop, you are bypassing this potentially bad part. This step will also make the 2nd option run faster if you have to resort to it.

A good rule of thumb on these devices is to never have only 1 copy of the data.

Good luck retrieving your data!

I have a seagate 1tb

Usually, incompatibility with an external drive is due to different file systems that the computer is able to read. You may have to reformat your drive into a different file system. I'm not sure what kind of computers you're trying to read/write with, so I can't give you the proper file system to format with. In general, most computers can read a FAT32 file system. It's not the most space-efficient file system, but it is widely recognized. To format a drive as large as yours, you may need some specialized software such as SwissKnife. I hope this helps!
