Hi ,
Here are several back up sofwares wich could help . I still think Acronis is the best .
If you are under Windows 7 , you don't need third party programs anymore . Just go to Start , type " back up entire system " and follow instructions .

When i plug my seagate Freeagent into PC it

You have "Simple Backup" on. To turn this function off and add custom files, you must open the Seagate Manager and select "Custom Backup" and then select the files and folders you want backed up. This should be under "Start" button, "Programs", "Seagate". Hope this was helpful.

Have seagate free agent go window 7 not reconizing

Hi,

You can try to use a different usb port of your computer check if it will be detected or try to plugged a different usb device see if it will be detected by the computer.If you have a different computer try to check if it will be detected. If the computer detects a different device it only means that the hard drive that you are connecting to the computer is faulty.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Externalseagate 250go not open how

If you cannot open or see the harddrive when you connect it to your computer after it is powered on then that is the external harddrive itself. First, check if the power connection is connected and the usb cord connect correctly. Then see if any lights come on on the external hard drive. If lights does come on and still nothing showing or coming on to the computer, then your harddrive is history. Seagate makes one of the worstest hardrive. You can google this up about seagate promblem and there are thousand out there who have this same promblem. I know this because I have the same promblem you have.

My hard drive is not

when your external drive is not being detected or does not appear in "my computer" in windows vista or windows 7. Try doing this option: just right click on my computer, click on manage, then go to disk management. Find your external drive there and right click on it, then select assign new drive letter. Select a letter from the midlle of the alphabet like m, then enter. The icon of your external drive should appear inside my computer. Or you can restart your computer and check if it is detected.

Hi there
hey if you are not getting it to recognizing the drive on system startup use your set up disk if you have it if not go to device manager and scan for hardware change and see if it can be found there if not try going into the bios and ensure that the usb ports are enabled and that the plug and play is enabled also you also need to ensure that the device is compatable with your pc i would check with the manufacture of the computer best regards mike

POWER ON BUT WANT DISPLAY

An external storage-device has four major components:

* the USB cable

* the power-adapter

* the disk-drive inside the enclosure

* the USB-to-disk-drive adapter inside the enclosure.

One of these components has failed.

Try a different USB cable.

Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer.

Try connecting to a USB port on a different computer.

Take a "multi-meter" and measure both the voltage and amperage output from the AC adapter, and compare with the specifications on the label on the adapter.

Open the enclosure, and remove the disk-drive, and then connect it as a "slave" disk-drive in a desktop computer, to see if it works at all.

Purchase a new, compatible, disk-drive, and install it in the enclosure, to "revive" your external storage device.

Get the part-number and serial-number from the label on your disk-drive, and access the manufacturer's web-site, and use "check warranty status", to see if they will replace the device, at minimal cost to you.

There exist commercial "data recovery" services that can try to repair your device, just long-enough to rescue and copy your files. For example, see: https://services.seagate.com/index.aspx?lng=en-US for a "no data - no charge" guarantee.

I am missing a partion in my external drive what

If you have not written anything else to the drive you can find software that can recover partitions. I use Acronis Disk Director a commercial program. However there are many free solutions on the internet.See: http://www.partition-recovery-software.net/ for a rundown of partition software and a primer on what a partition is.
