If it is no longer recognized by the
BIOS. Head over to pcinspector.de and download the utility. The software supports the most popular
file systems on the market: FAT 12, 16, 32 and NTFS. To be able to use
PC INSPECTOR File Recovery you will need a working Windows System. Never
install it on the drive from which you intend to recover data! The software must be
installed and run on a second, independent drive (Amazon.com has many affordable hard drives if you need one!). When you are done, the
utility is very easy to use. Just let the application extensive HTML
tutorial guide you through all the steps. I hope this little hard drive
recovery how-to could help you. Hopefully, the application will let you
recover your data.
If after trying
this, you still are unable to recover your data, you can always ask
experts to do the job for you. The folks at DTIDATAand at the RAID Group
can probably help you get your data back, no matter how damaged your
drive is. Here are the specific pages on their sites concerning hard
drive data recovery solutions
the knoppix distribution CD. This bootable CD
has the ability to mount and read FAT, FAT32 and NTFS partitions, even
damaged ones. So after your HD crashed, you can always use this to
recover your data and back it up on a USB key or second HD. Knoppix can be downloaded at: Knoppix.org
It has some
VERY complete instructions about how to use Knoppix to recover your
lost data.
Here is a beginnners guide to hard drive recovery if your interested:

How can i fix my seagate HDD,it wont detect in
Make sure it is connected to power and SATA, try a different SATA connector on your motherboard, there are probably 4 different connectors.
Also make sure that the SATA controller is set to "NON RAID" mode in bios.
You need to go into BIOS to change these settings, If you don't know how to do it Give me your motherboard details (model no makers name)and I'll write you out a walkthrough to set the bios up properly for your drive

Seagate barracuda external 500 gb hard drive usb
Verify what Drives have been detected by your Operating System by using Windows:
Control Panel -> Admistrative Tools -> Computer Management ->
Disk Management -> Your Hard disk(s) will be displayed with all
existing partitions and any assigned drive letters.
Your external (or internal) drive must be recognized as having formatted partitions that have a drive letter assigned to each required partition.
Hope it helps: let me know how you go!

Seagate barracuda 500Gb USB External drive
Hi,
I have also experienced similar problem and found out that the problem is with the harddisk. It may have bad sectors which cannot be rectified. If your harddisk is older than 3 years then probablity for this this kind of problem is high. Better claim the warranty for your harddisk if its life is within 3 years as segate HDDs were given 3 years warranty.
I hope this is helpful to you

Disk Managemet says my hard drive
let me get this straight... you can boot-up and windows does start. So your system is seeing the hard drive well enough to get you into window, but once there it refuses to see the hard drive it is based on??? Or by some chance is there a second hard drive which you are attempting to access? If that is the case you need to #1 see if it listing in your bios menu which you can access during start up, but even before that you need to make sure that the second HD is jumpered to slave mode if your running off the second hookup of a dual IO cable, if on the other hand you have it plugged into the second plug on the motherboard make sure you have it set to master. If that is all set then.
#2 reboot your computer and log into your bios menu look to see if your HD is listed if not using your +/- keys once you have the first open slot highlighted use the +/- keys to run through you options when you see auto check your bios control legend on the bottom hit the button which activates it your HD should show up in that selection area.

Hi,
Is the drive being detected in BIOS but not windows or does it not show up in either? You do not need a driver for hard drives, so I'm assuming either the drive is faulty or it just hasn't been initialized yet. Reply back and I will assist you with either issue.

How can i solve this problem..? my 500gb hard disk
I myself would purchase the external USB empty SATA Hardrive interface box and then connect it to your PC to see if it at least recognize the drive.
If you really need the files from the drive if this tactic doesn't work then I would find a Data Recovery company that can pull your information off the disk and send it to you. 'You will loose the drive but recover the information'.
Not cheep at all. Usually 3 to $400 charge.

The hard drive will not spin up
If the proper power cable is attached and it doesn't spin or click and you can hear no movement inside it's bad. Contact Seagate and send it back on warranty
