The hdd is not recognized
Are you using EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE, which means the hard drive is in a box, and you connect it to computer with USB cable?
If so, do the following
1. Try to plug and unplug and plug USB cable at the port on computer.
2. While plugged in, try to shake the plug a little.
3. Try to plug the USB cable to USB port at the back of the PC case, not the port at the front
4. Check the usb cable, buy a new one, or borrow one (its cheap)
5. Still does work? bring it to Customer service, there must be an error on the box itself.

Doesnt read at all. Tries
One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive
Test the leads that attach to your ((hard drive from the motherboard)) or replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your ((motherboard to hard drive))
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error
hope this helps

you could run the check disk utility
click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to repair any bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive then defragment your hard drive
hope this helps

I have a Barracuda 7200.7
Hello,
When you can not recognize the HDD to *********** board ,you can not recover the data any more.First should recognize and then after download the hiren boot bootable cd and regenerate the HDD.
http://www.fullandfree.info/software/hirens-bootcd-v100/Another way you can download ontrackbootable dm and zerro fill the HDD
http://www.downtr.net/297918-ontrack-easyrecovery-professional-621.html
- may be bad sector on hdd only the reason you did not use for a long days . or elecricity problem .so need zerro fil by ontrack bootable dm follow the step >
- boot from cd
- go to dm
- type that letter where the dm software in the cd .
- type in dos mode .all it possible if you know dos other wise it will be deficult.
- eg if your two partition c: d : so your dm will be in e:.
- type e: and enter , for observation type= dir and enter >now you can see is there ontrack or dm (directy or folder) have or not try it once after one
- if have ontrack in that folder type=cd (space) ontrack>cd (space) dm hit enter .
- If all ok typpe dm and enter
- enter
- advance installation
- maintence
- uttility
- zerrofil
- yes
- it will take 8 to 10 hours dont panic all data will be lost
- with this processes your hdd can be ok.
- and after complete all the programe install os again

I have Seagate HD 500GB
Your problem is very clear... The HDD has got bad sectors in it and that is the cause for the Sneak sneak sound...
This causes your HDD to not get detected under bios in most of the situation and this is the root cause for all the problems stated above...
Here is the solution:
==============
It is not possible to do any kind of service from your end...
It has to be sent to a seagate service center to get serviced...
Mostly they will never service the HDD, they will replace it with a new one...
All the seagate HDD comes with 5 years warranty...
you can opt for replacement...
search in google for an authorised service center located in your locality...

Would it be a good idea to replace the circuit
Hello
OK, i would like to mention that i had this exact drive, exact problem 6 months ago....
Now, the thing is, in order to replace the circuit board, you will need to replace it with one of the exact same drive, even up to the same firmware version. SO, i actually ended up sending the drive in for recovery, because, i could not get a circuit board with all the exact same specs.
So, if you do not have any important data on the drive that needs to be recovered, it will be easier to just replace the drive. The recovery ended up costing me $300.
Hope this can steer you in the right direction.
Kind regards
Andrea

I have 60 GB
Search online for a professional "data recovery service". For a significant fee, they can repair your disk-drive, just long-enough to copy all your files to a brand-new disk-drive.

Hard disk error then i format it erasing all files
It depends on how long the FORMAT took -- if it just was a few seconds, then what happened was a 'empty' table-of-contents was written, to make the drive appear to be 'empty', and nothing was written on the other 99% of your disk-drive. Thus, some "file recovery" software can be used to read that 99% and "stitch" together each block of data, to reconstruct the old table-of-contents.
Or, if the FORMAT took several minutes, then every block of data on the disk-drive was overwritten by a block of 'zero' bytes, making your data _almost_ unavailable. In that case, you need to find a 'friendly' federal agent (maybe Department of Homeland Security) to use 'advanced' techniques to read the 'residual' magnetism that is 'under' the block of 'zero' bytes, to recover the data.

The Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500 GB SATA Hard
Hello
OK, you need to let me know if the drive spins up, you should be able to hear it. Also, you need to have a listen if the drive makes a clicking noise.
Please be so kind tom let me know.
If the drive makes a clicking noise the drive is done, you will need to take it to a recovery institution to recover the data.
If the drive does not spin up, the circuit board or the power cable might be broken.
Hope this can be of help.
Kind regards
Andrea
