Insignia NS-DV2G MP3 Player - Page 6 Questions & Answers
Keeps freezing up after downloads
My new Insignia NS-8V24 player, that I've had for 3-4 months, won't charge. I've used charging USB lines I have to charge it on every computer possible, but it won't charge. It would turn off and on for a few seconds and turn off again. I do not know what to do, because I cannot download music into the Mp3 player if it cannot be turned on. What should I do?
Won't turn back on - battery still alive
Connect it to your PC, right click on the device under My Computer. You should see the device. Right Click on it, and if you do not see "Format", then open it. There should be drives, such as internal Storage. Right click here. You should see "Format". This wipes the device completely.
Computer wont read my mp3 player wehn i plug it in?
To make it work you have to change it to MSC mode (Only for Windows XP and 2K, it somewhat technical so do it at your own pace and follow instruction:

- Double click System, and then select the Hardware tab.
- Click on Device manager.
- Click on the '+' for Portable device and you will see "Insignia Video Player".
- Right click and select "Update driver".
- A Hardware Update Window will open, Select "No, not this time" when windows asks to search for software. Click next. Check the "Install from a list or specific location" checkbox and then click next.
- On the next screen select "Don't Search. I will choose the driver to install".
- Click next and then you will see a window showing two drivers that are compatible with your player.
- To put the device into MSC mode select "USB Mass Storage Device" and click next.
- A finish installing driver will appear and your device will now appear as a hard drive on your system.
- To switch back to MTP mode, open the device manager as above and click on the "+" for "Universal Serial bus controllers" and you will see "Insignia Video Player".
- Then follow the steps above until you reach the "Select the device driver..." screen in which you select "MTP device".

Trouble downloading music videos
There should be some software that came with the player that converts video files to a compatable format for the player.
The software is the ArcSoft Media Converter2 and the parameters should be 320x240, 512 video, 128 audio.
Another program you can try is Media Converter 2.5 intro (trial) version on the Arcsoft website. This seems to also do a terrific job at conversion.
Best of luck to you!
