I was wondering how I can free up space on my

To free up disk space just drag the unwanted music and photos to the Trash bin then empty the Trash bin.
This also applies to any other files such as word and text files, PDF files etc.

At this point, the best thing would be to call apple. Most of the experts here would not be able to solve a problem that you have been unable to find an answer for. For example, i would need to physically look at the macbook to see what is wrong, because i know what details to look for.

My system takes time to boot

There may be a handful of issues: check to see if any programs are loading when you turn the computer on, eg. the last program you installed before this slowdown occurred, then, it may be an issue with your hard drive and you will need to use the system utilities to check for hard drive problems. Lastly, you may be having problems with the power supply, which is a common problem with three-pin power supplies. I'm not able to give names and specific details as I dont own such a computer but from the little info you shared, Id go with these three first steps: check the software activity, check the hard drive, check the power supply.

Two ways to try to recover a lost password:

One way, although there's no real way to recover a lost root password, you can change the root password even if you do not know the current one. You must have physical access to the machine in order to accomplish this task.

Click Restart at the login window
While the computer is restarting, hold down "Command-S" ( The command-S means the apple key + s) until you see text scrolling through the window.
This boots the computer into single user mode.

At the Localhost% prompt type:
/sbin/mount -uw //sbin/SystemStarter

You will then see various services starting up.

When the Localhost% prompt reappears, type:
passwd root

It will then ask you to type the new root password twice, so do so.

After entering the new password, type:
reboot

At the login window, enter username root wih the new password.

Once you are connected, you can use the Multiple Users application (/Applications/Utilities) to change your normal user's password, or create a new user account.\

The 2nd way to recover a lost password is:

to change the administrator (known as "root" in unix) password on a Mac OS X Tiger, Panther, etc., computer. The key to unlocking your system is the Mac OS X install disk.

Once you have an install disk in hand, double click on the Install Mac OS icon and you'll get a window with a big graphic and a restart button. Click on it, and your PowerBook will restart and go straight to the install process.

But don't install the OS again!

Just click through windows far enough until you get the regular set of choices on the menu bar. One of those menus is Utilities and one of the choices on that menu is Reset Password....

Using this tool, you'll be able to change your password to something you know. Then choose Quit from the Installer menu and when your computer restarts, you'll now know the admin password.

Hope this info helps.

Hi i forgot my mac password what do i do

Here’s how to create an admin account without knowing the current administrator password.
This is nothing new to people familiar with unix, and can’t really be classified as a “hack”, but it’s an easy way to make an admin account without a password. This particular method is used if you, for some reason, can’t get into your account at all, for example: you lost MAC Admin password and you account is protected with FileVault. This process basically forces your computer to re-run setup, which is what you see when you setup a new Mac.
This process will take about 5-10 minutes. If you have a password, or WEP code for your network or internet, be sure to have that at hand.

My Apple laptop will not

Hi there.

1. If, when you push the start button, you here the DVD drive make its start noise, and you here the MAC startup sound/chord but with no display, you may be lucky and just need the screen replaced. This can be checked by connecting the laptop to an external monitor. If the external monitor displays the laptop's screen normally, you've found the problem

2. After #1, things pretty much get more serious. There's a strong possibility that your video/graphics controller/card which is soldered to the logic board could very well be dead, and for that you have to send away to have that card replaced, or install a new motherboard.

I hope that #1 solves your issue.

Best Wishes
