New cellular phone recommendations
Although BlackBerry is a fairly reputable company, the complaints that you describe above are quite common, and most without fixes.
If you want a BlackBerry, consider the 8220 BlackBerry Flip. Better predictive text engine and none of the complaints you mentioned above. I think those are available well within your price range if you're willing to do a new two year agreement.
I no longer receive emails to my blackberry.
ahev you registered the phone through the online site for your provider? it should be "service provider".blackberry.com (rogers.blackberry.com). If it's your first time to this site then you will need to setup your phone by creating a profile. You will need your ESN DEC, ESC HEX and/or your PIN number to do this. These are found on the side of the box for the phone, or under the battery if you want to turn your phone off. Once you have created an account or logged into your previously created account, find your email. It should be on the main page with a x or circle with a slash through it. Click edit, retype the password where required and click save changes. It should think for a bit and then popup saying everything sucessful. There should be a check mark next to your email when the setup is done correctly. Hope this helps.
What is the hard reset for a blackberry pearl?
Remove the battery cover and take out the battery. Wait 30 seconds and replace the battery and your phone will automatically start back up. The start-up process takes a while, sometimes 15 minutes, so be patient and walk away. It seems like it takes forever, but just think of it like a watched pot never boils; a watched blackberry never starts back up! Haha, it will start back up though, just be patient. This is the way to perform a hard reset on the blackberries.
Only red light bliking, no screen
the red blinking light is indicating that you have a missed call, unread message, or unread email.
which makes sense if you cant see the screen.
holding the power down for 5 seconds doesnt do anything?
how about pulling the battery and replugging it in and turning it on via the Red hangup/power button?
this is known as hard-resetting the handset.
if its under warrenty you might be able to get the screen swapped out.

Sync Palm Pilot Contacts to Blackberry Pearl
generate a file from the palm pilot program. I think there is a application within palm pilot specifically for that purpose. Once you have generated the file move it to your blackberry manager program and sync the phone
I have a borowed Blackberry
Go to profiles and make sure it's not in "quiet" or "vibrate" mode. If it is, choose either normal or loud.
If normal or loud are already selected you may need to go to advanced settings (at the bottom of the profile list).
In the advanced menu, click on the active profile, then choose phone. Make sure it is set for "tone" or "vibrate + tone" in both the out of holster and in holster sections.

Radio auto off!!
It may be a corrupted file during startup operations. If you
haven't done so already, I would try removing battery and reinserting.
A third notable point would be to make sure you have sufficient battery
life. BB devices wont operate radio with lower than 15% battery...
OR
Go into Manage Connections and click in the box next to Mobile Network.
Hope it helps
Blackberry 8120 w. t-Mobile. internet?
I'm only winging it here with this one, because I went ahead and subscribed to the T-Mobile internet. But that only lets me do so much. On the other hand, when I'm near a wireless router connected to the internet, I can go into my menu and open my "Set Up Wi-Fi" to scan for available networks.
That usually locates the router I am near, and I can connect to it, if it's an open network or I have the key to get into it. That, I believe you do not need a paying subscription to the T-Mobile internet option.
Also, once that is done, you want to go into your internet, go to the options, open the "General Properties" and make your default browser the "Hotspot Browser", and use the icon of the globe with the arrow going around it when getting online.
If you want to be able to save pictures and what not from the internet, another thing to do is go to the "Browser Configuration" in your internet options, switch the "Browser" option over to Hotspot Browser" so you are setting the right one, scroll all the way down to "Emulation Mode" and set it to "Microsoft IE"
I hope this helps you.
My phone when I press
When you do your automatic dialing, does the number include the area code?
ie. mine is 937 (937-xxx-xxxx)
If you don't have the area code put in with the rest of the number, that may be your problem. 1 is the country code for USA, so normally when you see a number that says +11234567890, its country code, area code, phone number.
+1(country)123(area code)4567890(phone number)
So anyway, the only thing I can think of is to put the area code in the phone numbers in your address book if they are not already there. Other than that, I dont know.
Blackberry Pearl automatically deleting messages
I actually had this problem a LOT in the past, it got so bad that I would get a message and it would INSTANTLY delete. Before I could even see who it was from, it would be gone. Then I looked for hours trying to find a solution, and found one. I haven't had the problem since, unless I have nearly a month's worth of texts in my phone.
The problem is that your device memory is too full. If you have an SD card in your phone, I highly recommend moving any photos on your device memory over to the card. If not, then I HIGHLY recommend getting one, they are wonderful.
If you do not have an SD card, and your budget is too small to get one, then delete any pictures on your device memory you dont need, or copy them over to your PC so you dont lose them, and try and keep your memory as empty as possible. Also if it happens a lot and bugs you, then every couple of days go in and empty out your message inbox also.
If this doesnt help then I dont know.
Radio connection shuts off every 30 seconds
Try taking battery out and putting it back in - have had a couple of problems with my own blackberry and this is advice I was given, and it worked! Might be worth a try anyway.
How to configure the gprs manually?
it depends on your phone service provider. u can call their call centre to get the proxy settings and everything. B-mobile is better than DST when it came to blackberry
