Long story short, My dad wanted to give me his older TV (a 52" Sharp aquos HDTV) and in haste delivered it to me in his SUV. During transport the screen cracked. I can't afford to buy a TV like this, but would like to know if it would worth it to get it fixed? It would be such a waste to get rid of it.
No way. The lcd panel is more then the price of the tv. Sorry.

When i try to change the volume it will only go from 0 to 30 to full volume.
Also there is a Green box with a K in it on the screen that i cant get rid of
OK guys I'll save you. The tv is in hotel mode. To get it out from there you have to go in service menu but DO NOT CHANGE ANY OTHER THING IN THERE, only what i tell you. With the tv on and the K letter on the screen press in the same time vol- and ch- on the tv set. Now you'll be in service mode. On the remote press down arrow (not -channel) and you'll see up industry init. go there with ch- and press vol+ and enter. let the tv like that for few seconds and the tv will go green and hopefully industry init succsesfull will be on the screen. After that unplug the tv and replug it. Done!

my tv is just keeps shutting off on it's own. the power and opc button is blinking. i can't get the tv to stay own. what is the problem?
How many times per second does the POWER led blink? (dont worry about the OPC).
1x per second (constant, steady blink) = bad inverter/lamps
2x per second = bad power supply
3x per second = bad main board
You can buy the parts online and fix if yourself!!

I have a 42 Aquos LCD and there is a faint black vertical line in the middle of my TV. You can only see it if the background is a light colour. Is there any way to get rid of this or is this the start of a problem with the TV?
how do you send all white picture to tv from computer?

We just bought the new aquos and hooked up the hdtv, but now in most of the HD channels closed captions show up and we don't know how to get rid of them. We tried pressing the cc button like the manual said, but it isn't the same in a different input. We want to take the subtiles off. How can we turn off the closed caption in input 1 (component)?
I have a Sharp Aquos 46" and go a Comcast HD receiver as well, and had the same problem turning off the Closed Captioning. I order to turn it off you need to go into the box user setting by (starting w/ the cable box and tv on) pressing the power button for the cable box then the menu button for the cable box. This will open up the user settings menu. Just toggle CLOSED CAPTION to DISABLED.

I have line black vertical line 1 pixel wide down middle of screen...any way to fix?
I too had a black line horizontally across the screen (on a 52" d62). It was brand new and was as if the screen had been "pinched" at the end of the line and it radiated outward (in my case, the "pinch" was at the extreme left and line went out to the right, like a crack).
Mine was a factory defect (right out of the box) and was replaced (2 yr now and no issues). This line of yours may have been there from the start and maybe you just didn't notice it?? Not a slam, just an observation.

no power. 4 blinks
OK I have just taken care of both of these problems and now I want to
share it with you DIYer's. As for the blinking red it is a software
upgrade...go
here...http://www.m4c.magnavox.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?scy=US&slg=AEN&cat=FLAT_TV_CA&sct=PLASMA_EXTRA_LARGE_GT43_SU&grp=TV_GR&session=20090902212032_75.92.128.105&ctn=50MF231D/37&mid=Link_Software&hlt=Link_Software....and
download the software to your PC. Then unzip it to a USB flash drive.
Power off your TV. Stick the flash drive into your TV's USB slot, found
on the left side, facing the TV. Power it up and let it do it's trick.
Pull out the flash drive when instructed. That's it.
Now for the power problem. I noticed that my TV was taking longer and
longer to fire up. Once on it worked great. Well this morning it didn't
come on. I heard the usual relay click then a few seconds later...two
more clicks and nothing. The green LED stays lite but it's dead in the
water. So I started surfing the web for common problems found with this
particular model. I came upon this forum and saw something about a
couple of capacitors. So I decided to look into it. I purchased the
service manual online for around $8.00 at
https://www.completeservicemanuals.com/philips/magnavox/plasma-television/50mf231d/37-service-manual/prod_677.html.
Not that I thought I would need it but it doesn't hurt to have it. So I
took my TV off the wall and placed it on my bed face down. Be very
careful because this TV is heavy!!! You will need to remove the stand
or wall mounts first. Then there are 44 screws holding on the back, 32
long and 13 short. Pull the back off from the top of the TV first, set
it off to the side. Now your looking at the workings...in the center is
the power supply board. Oh yea please make sure you unplugged from the
wall. There are 8 wire connectors to the board, 5 of them come off by
squeezing the clip on the back, the other 3 just pull out. OK, there
are 8 screws holding down the board to the chassis. Before lifting the
board, locate the capacitors first. If the top of the TV is away from
you and the bottom is near your knees (assuming it's on your bed) look
at the center bottom of the power board. Locate two capacitors that are
identical and side by side. Their values are 3300uf 10V. I found that
these two buggers were raised on top, kind of bubbled. (if needed I
have pictures of the power board, email [email protected]). I picked
the replacements up at a local electronics store for less than $5. I
simply replaced them and reassembled the TV. It works killer just like
when it was new.
Good luck.

What does it stand for and what does it do?
OPC_ Optical Picture Control
Automatically adjust the brightness of the screen.
You can change the settings in the menu option.
It's in Menu, then picture, then OPC.
OFF- The brightness is fixed at the value set in "Backlight"
ON- Automatically adjusts
ON: DISPLAY- Displays the OPC effect on the screen while adjusting the brightness of the screen.
If you don't want the silly display from popping up all the time, go into to menu and change the setting to ON; instead of ON: DISPLAY

My sharp tv has its power light flashing and it will not turn on or off. Do you know what this could be?
Hello,
Your power supply board is dead, u know basic electronics’ and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
Hope this help
