Yep. another lens stuck.

i had this problem after putting it in a jug of bear (i know, i know...not so smart)...i washed the camera with a small amount of dishwashing detergent and a good rinse and it seemed to solve the problem for me....not sure if this is the recommended way of dealing with it though.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

My camera will not power on - the red light

The flashing light indicates it is not making it through it's self test without an error. Has it been exposed to something strange? Customs perhaps? The other thing is to go to a battery shop and ask if the battery is ok? I had this happen when the camera had been in storage a long while. no one recalled what happened. I put the camera under a warm light 100watt bulb 12inches above on a black cloth for one hour. battery out. then I put the fresh charged battery into the warm camera and it came back to life. I figured it's internal battery was drained and warming it was just enough to power through the self test.

Olympus u770 sw 7.1 No

Hi

Sorry to hear about your issue with the Olympus mju 770 SW. There's a couple of things you can check and try, before thinking about a repair or binning the camera and getting a new model.

1. Check the contacts on the battery are clean?

2. Clean the contacts inside the cameras battery compartment are clean?

3. Is the charger actually charging the battery? Try another battery or see if you can test the existing battery with a multi-meter to check there is some power in it.

It is fairly common for chargers to fail, so it's worth checking out but don't go spending money on a new charger unless you know it will fix your problem.

Hope this helps

My camera keeps saying write protect when i turn

Remove the memory card and look for a near-microscopic slide switch along the edge of the board. If you don't find one, it may have a tab-type lock that has been activated.
If the card is not equipped with either one, it is probably dead.

Blurry area on photos taken

Have a look at the lens, is there something stuck to it or dirty. If so needs cleaning. I'd try a damp cotton bud. Don't get water in the camera. Use several buds if required. Be Gentle.

Sometimes when taking photos the

this may not be the camera but the lighting situation of the photo. or how the camera is held this also happens on film cameras.
if the subject is not well lit or the flash fails to go off or is blocked by a finger then the shutter stays open longer to get enough light to see the image. if the auto focus apature is blocked it will not focus on the subject and will come out out of focus
if the camera moves in the time that the shot is taken it will blur.

if the blufing is from left to right or up and down it means the camer moved during the shot.
if the whole picture is blured all over this looks like being out of focus and not due to movement.

check your IOS speed setting for your camera if it is set low then the camera will needs a lot of light or show shutter speed to capture an image. set it to auto or higher than 100 is best for most situation

if the camera is set to manual an not automatic the camera will only shoot at the set shutter speed and this can cause bluring.

try some test shots on a table or a tripod and take several shots in automatic mode with auto focus on take them one after the other they should all be the same but if one is blurred then there is a problem with the metering of your camera if they are all fine they it is due to camera shake when the picture was taken.

a few tips.

hold the camera to the eye with the elbows against the side of the body.
in dark lit places try to use a tripod or some other support or external light source or flash.
ensure the fingers are away from the auto focus apature the lens and the flash light.

i hope this was helpful

Holiday

Delicate electronics and acid (salt water) make poor companions. Any time you get a modern camera anywhere near the ocean it's only a matter of time until it's gets just a drop or two of sea water in the wrong place. One must consider a underwater camera a expendable item. As a retired SCUBA instructor/dive guide and repair tech, I, knowing exactly what to do and how to carefully prep a camera for under water use, have killed several.

Likely your son had a speck of dust or lint or a hair across the sealing surfaces when he closed up the camera. That's all it takes.

Contact the company about repair, but be ready to say "it's not worth it" and just get another camera. They ALL leak eventually, IMHO.

I have a stylus 5010 - some how the camera is hung

Does the memory card have a slide switch on the side? It should be set to "unlocked". If that doesn't work, use a card reader to download any pics from the card and then insert it back into the camera. Go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions. By the way...cameras can't get a virus.

You should be able to remove the memory card and use a card reader to download and erase the pics.
Uses an XD card up to 2G, if your computer doesn't have a card reader built in they are cheap to purchase. Hope this helps.

Cannot transfer 2010 photos to imac

Use a card reader instead of your camera. When the icon appears on the screen, double-click on it and select the ones you want to transfer. Transfer them to a folder you create on your desktop and from there, you can do anything you want with them.
