Speaker doesn't work when using Garmin on my motorcycle but it works in my truck. got any ideas?

there is a speaker on the cradle for the car and none on the bike cradle probably due to the exposure to the elements when on the bike and i think the Zumo must be powered from the bike for the speaker on the Zumo to work when riding.

Crackling noise then no audio at all while on motorcycle

In my opinion I suspect either a bad internal connection to the built in speaker or a faulty Bluetooth connection. Does the problem occur on both the helmet and speaker? If so, then the unit has likley had a circuit malfunction. If the helmet works fine but not the speaker, then I'd guess a broken or damaged speaker and/or speaker wire. Crackling noise is typical for broken wires or lose connections. Any decent TV repair place would be able to sort through it about 10 mintues before you have to return to for factory repair.

How to hardwire to HD motorcycle

Black or ground to chasis, Red to battery if you want it to have power all the time.
To the fuse box to a switched line if you want it to turn off with the bike.
Be sure to have a fuse in line with the power wire to prevent damage to the GPS umit or a fire on the bike.

Garmin zumo 550 AC adapter inop

Take the unit back for warranty service. If you are using the original adabtor it should work. Take note that the Garmin GPS's are designed to work only with original Garmin accessories.

My zumo won't power on

This sometimes happens if the cradle is owered while you connect the zumo...i guess it hits some wrong contacts first and goes bonkers. I'd advise th zumo users to pack a small allen screw bit to unscrew the battery, just in case it freezes or blacks out again....better safe than lost in the middle of nowhere!

Need location for reset button

First try holding down the reset button for 3 seconds, then connecting the unit to a power source using the power cable.

If that doesn't work, try a "master reset." With the unit off, press and hold the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Keep holding this and turn the unit on. Hold the corner down for 10 more seconds and the unit should ask for confirmation you want to wipe its data.

Touch screen issues

Has the unit ever been really wet or is there a hole in the touch screen foil? If not have you ever done a cold reset?
. First turn the unit OFF, then HOLD your thumb on the furthest bottom right hand corner of the screen, push as far into the corner as you can on the screen itself. While holding your thumb/finger on the screen press and hold the POWER ON button until you see the ZUMO splash screen, once the splash screen is up you can release the power, but continue to hold your thumb in the right corner of the screen for another 5 - 10 seconds, you should see a window that pops up and asks "Do you really want to erase all user data?", make sure to answer YES to this window, if you don't see this window, then turn unit OFF and try the above instructions again, ensuring your thumb is in the furthest portion of the bottom right hand corner of the touch screen.

No power in any way

I charged it for about an hour on the bus connector (wall outlet did not appear to generate any charge). I then opened up the back and removed the battery. Put the battery back in; see if it starts. If so, turn off immiediately and continue to charge it to a full charge (at least 12 hours).

I found other users who experienced the same problem when their battery drained down to a very low level. The unit goes zombie and needs both a charge AND full reset (battery removal) before it can be resurrected.

Touch screen not working properly

I'm not familiar with the Zumo family of GPS from Garmin, but if they are similar enough to the StreetPilot, you should be able to recalibrate the screen. In the StreetPilot series, to recalibrate you turn the unit off. Press and hold the bottom right of the screen and turn the unit on. Keep pressing the screen until the calibration information begins. Try this, see if it works on the Zumos, too.

Long recognition Time When using 4G SDHC (Scan disk, formatted Fat32) full of music

Are you sure none of these files is corrupt? My best results were with fixed bit rate 128 bit MP3's and I had 4 gigs of them on an sd card. There have been issues with MP3's, maybe you need a firmware update, use the Garmin webupdater here http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp

Formating the Zumo 550 GPS

Hi, I had a very similar problem with my Zumo 550. It turned out to be the SD card. I had an 8gb card full of MP3 tracks and the unit indexes them before working properly.

I removed the SD card all was well again

Connection problem between a nokia n95 8gb and zumo 550

I have recently purchased a Zumo 550 and successfully copied across selected phone book entries from a Nokia N95 without the need to use any additional apps:-

1) Assuming the N95 and Zumo are paired via BlueTooth
2) In N95 Contacts - use 'Mark' / 'Mark All' as necessary to select the contact entries you wish to transfer to the Zumo 550
3) In N95 Contacts - select 'Options' then 'Send Business Card' then 'Via Bluetooth'
4) Select the Zumo 550 device from the list of paired Bluetooth devices
5) Contact data is transferred from N95 phonebook to Zumo 550 phonebook

Interestingly, Garmin don't seem to list the Nokia N95 as being a supported device on their website, but the above process worked for me!!
