JVC Everio GZ-MG57 HDD Camcorder Questions & Answers
I need Download Software Lost the original disc.
You can just use windows explorer to transfer video and rename the mod to avi to view it. You can use Xillisoft video converter to make them into divx or whatever format you need. Camstasia software is good for editing, much better than any of the software that comes with the camera.
Free up hard drive space
It's probably just misreporting the capability. The camera uses 2 folders that are approximately 16 gigs (magically all hard drives lose a few gigs don't ask me why). But in FAT32 partitions, only 4 gigs can be used at the most at one time, so it might be guessing there are just 2 4 gig capacity folders.
Video Playback on a Everio GZ-MG57U
Sounds like you just need to upgrade your codecs. I use media player classic or VLC media player so I've never had these "not" play. Also another thing you will run into is the widescreen not showing properly when it does work. You have to convert the video to proper divx format with Xillisoft video converter in order for it to appear in 16:9 in all players. Makes the files 1/10 of the size too with little quality loss. Make sure you get the newest divx and xvid codecs, or a media player codec pack (easily found in google).
Dropped camcorder
When you dropped the camera you ended up jamming the iris closed. There may be additional damage within the lens assembly. In order to repair the stuck iris, the optical lens assembly needs to be partially disassembled. This is not a project for the novice. This should be taken to a JVC authorized service center for a repair estimate. The estimate will cost about $50 or so.

Power not on or USB device not compatible
Hi,
I think your battery is 100% OK, if the power supply is perfect there may be problem with the switch, clean it with contact cleaner spray often press the switch several times.
if the switch contacts are not connecting, this will help it to clear it.
open the cam, check the power supply on the main board, there is a
small fuse on the circuit board test it with. eventually we have to suspect the mother board. if so should change it.
I can not access the menu on my jvc everio gz-mz37u to reformat the hard drive and HDD error is still showing, please help.
Hi,
first of all my advice is: if you keep any electronics devices without usage for a long period, you must detach the battery/power supply.
in this case I think the hard disk may be faulty, if you can open the camera and takeout the HDD connect with an HDD dock connect the dock to your system, in normal condition your computer will detect the hard disk, if so you can save the contents to your computer or you can format it, if it is not detecting your computer it means the HDD is physically damage. please change it.
Everio media browser 3 be
I solved my problem by changing the setting from PAL to NTSC in the Everio media browser (the unit was purchased in the US but the software was set to PAL).
