Hp photosmart c3180 will only print black in test

Try cleaning your print heads using the printers menu keys. Press menu and then scroll the options with the arrow keys until you find the maintenance area. then press ok or accept. Then continue scrolling until you see clean print heads and again press ok or accept. then follow the instructions or prompts to clean them. That should solve your issue.

It won't turn off or go back to the left side

Remove the power and open lid to see if there is any mechanical jamming. If you are able to turn the motor drive very carefully manually and see if the tray starts to move then reconnect after a movement was seen. If the cartridge does not respond again then there is fault in the motherboard motor drive,You can try to see if the printer can be uninstalled and reinstalled. If there is no change then the board or the drive assembly needs to be removed and checked for a faulty motor loading drive or motor.

How to increase the font size when printing?

Hi,
I am sorry to say that font size cannot be changed from the All-in-One software. It can only be changed from the application which you are using to print.
Notepad and Microsoft Word
=========================
Please perform the steps given below, if you are printing from note pad nd Microsoft word:
Click on Format.
Click on Font.
Select the desired font under Size.
If you are printing from any browser, then I request you to perform the steps given below to change the font settings in differ browsers.
Following are the instructions to decrease or increase the font size in various browsers:
Change Text Size in Internet Explorer
================================
1. Select the "View" option from the main menu at the top of the browser window. Use the mouse or press the ALT + v keys. A drop down menu will appear.
2. Select the "Text Size" option from the drop down menu. Use the mouse or press the x key.
A sub menu option window will appear containing the following five choices: "Largest", "Larger", "Medium", "Smaller" and "Smallest". "Medium" is the default value.
3. Select from among the five options by using the mouse to highlight or by pressing the appropriate keyboard letter, i.e. g for "Largest", l for "Larger", m for "Medium", s for "Smaller" or a for "Smallest."
The size of the text displayed in the browser window will change in accordance with your choice.
Change Text Size in Mozilla/Netscape 6+
=================================
1. Select the "View" option from the main menu at the top of the browser window. Use the mouse or Windows users can press the ALT + v keys. A drop down menu will appear.
2. Select the "Text Zoom" option from the drop down menu. Use the mouse or press the z key.
A sub menu window will appear containing three sets of options for changing displayed text size:
a. Increase or decrease the text size by small amounts. Select either the "Smaller" or the "Larger" option. Use the mouse to select "Smaller" or "Larger"; alternatively, press the appropriate
shortcut: CTRL - (minus) for "Smaller", CTRL + (plus) for "Larger". The size of text displayed in the browser window will increase or decrease by small amounts in accordance with your choice.
b. Change the text size to one of 7 pre-defined percentages of the default: 50, 75, 90, 100, 120, 150 and 200 percent. Select from among the 7 pre-defined percentages. Use the mouse to highlight your choice or the appropriate keyboard short cut, i.e. 5 for 50%, 7 for 75%, 9 for 90%, z for 100% (the default), 1 for 120%, 5 for 150% or 2 for 200%.
The size of the text displayed in the browser window will change in accordance with your choice.
c. Change the text size to an arbitrary percentage of the default, e.g. 300%, 37.5%.
Select the "Other Options" menu item. Use the mouse to highlight your choice or press the o shortcut key.
A pop up input window titled "Text Zoom" will appear.
Type in the percentage amount by which you wish to change the default text size. Click on OK or press the ENTER key.
The size of the text displayed in the browser window will change in accordance with the value you enter in the input field.
These three options may be used separately or in combination.
Change Text Size in Firefox 1.0
================================
1. From the Firefox Menu Bar select View>Text Size>Increase
2. This will cause the text to display on the web page one size larger. However this is a temporary change.
Or use the keyboard:
1. Press Ctrl & +/-, or Ctrl & scroll down/up to increase/decrease the text size.
To make a permanent font size change:
1. From the Firefox Menu Bar,
a. Windows: select Tools>Options. Select 'General'
b. Macintosh: select Preferences.
2. Click on 'Fonts & Colors'.
3. Set the font sizes. Minimum font size.can also be set.
Change Text Size in Opera

1. Select the "View" option from the main menu at the top of the browser window. Use the mouse to make a selection or press the ALT + v shortcut keys. A drop down menu will appear.
2. Select the "Zoom" option from the drop down menu. Use the mouse or press the z key.
A sub menu will appear containing the following options: 50, 80, 90, 100 (the default), 120, 150, 200 percent. In addition, there are four more options that make percentage increments or decrements to text size: -100, +100, -10 and +10 percent.
Select from among the options by using the mouse to highlight your choice.
The size of the text displayed in the browser window will change in accordance with your choice.
* Alternately, use the + (plus) and - (minus) keys on your keyboards number pad, or the Zoom selector in the toolbar.

An SD Card is used to store data for easy transfer to a computer. The SD card can also be inserted and removed without having to reboot the unit. In addition, data can be transferred to external media using the USB 2.0 port.

I did load down the

have you considered replacing the USB cable.

I would suggest that you load the full software module from the HP site and re-isntall.

Uninstall the drivers before install and do not connect the printer until the installation program asks.

Ensure that the scanner software is installed , I would reinstal your drivers by using your disk and do the complete install witch will include your scanner drivers.

The colors on my C3180

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent inkdrying out in the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages,then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.

Then select your operating system, click on NEXT, then scroll down a bit to the first option Driver - Product Installation Software (1) and click on the + symbol to the left then select

HP Photosmart C3183 All-in-One Printer I

Hi

The printer will use same cartridges that it uses in Saudi Arabia, and those cartridges are available even in Canada, you can buy it from this link. I mean there is no need for region code etc. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Hi

Electronic hard reset: An electronic reset is performed when any mechanical issue is not involved or has been resolved (such as a paper jam) but the printer continues to display an error message or blinking lights. Follow the steps given below to perform a Electronic hard reset: 1. Isolate the printer by disconnecting the USB/parallel cable. 2. Remove the cartridges as well as any paper in the paper tray. If applicable, be sure that there is no memory cards in the printer. 3. Reset the printer memory by disconnecting the unit power cable while the printer is turned on. 4. Wait for 30 seconds, then reconnect the power cable. NOTE: If an electrical reset is performed and the printer still displays an error message or does not print a self test, it is likely that the printer may need a mechanical reset. Mechanical hard reset: A mechanical hard reset is performed when the printer is in a condition where its normal printing process is interrupted. Examples include a paper jam, carriage stall, or mechanical noise. Follow the steps given below to perform a mechanical hard reset: 1. Make sure the printer has no source of incoming data by disconnecting it from the computer and making sure that there is no memory card inserted in the printer. 2. Remove any paper from the paper tray and remove the printer cartridges. 3. Turn the printer off. 4. Remove the rear access door and roll the internal rollers in an upward direction until a clicking sound is heard. 5. Manually slide the carriage back and forth to make sure it is not stalled. 6. Reinsert the rear access door and reconnect the power cable. 7. Turn the printer on. 8. Reinsert the cartridges and perform a self-test.
