Canon printer error 5100

5100 seems to be a Carriage Home Position Error. Clean the plastic strip that runs the length of the carriage, it may be contaminated. Then load the tray with the blank papers.

Then reset the Printer: Following are the steps:

1. Turn off printer
2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not,
press the Power button once more.
8. Your printer should respond as normal.

This should work. If not, install the Driver and Software from the Installation CD provided with the Printer.

You can also download the Driver from the following link:

"The ink absorber is almost full. Press printer's

This means that the counter related to the amount of ink these pads absorb during print head cleaning cycles and from edge to edge printing is nearly at the programmed limit. You can still print by pressing the Start button.

However, you can expect the printer to stop working soon. You can clean out the waste ink pads yourself. This is a bit messy so have plenty of newspaper around. Disassemble the printer from the top. The pads (rubber of some type) are below the cartridge carrier on the side. Pull them out and blot most of the ink off them. Then run under water until the water comes out clear. Allow to dry (you can speed up the drying process with a hair dryer).

Finally reset the waste ink counter in the service mode:
With the printer off but connected to power, Press and hold Set/Reset and then press the Power button. When the power light is lit, continue to hold the Power button and press Set/Reset twice. The light should be green.

Now press Set/Reset 4 times (the light will switch between orange and green at each press). Turn off the printer. The counter should be reset.

Do not reset the counter without cleaning or replacing the pads. You will get ink spreading all over the printer. Additionally, the waste ink counter is set to a value that should be reached near the printer's end of life with normal usage. Other parts may fail soon.

I hope this helps.

Eroor E42

E42 means there is a scanner error. Canon website suggests you turn off the machine, and unplug the power cord from the power source. Wait approximately ten minutes, plug the power cord back in and power on the machine.

If the error is not resolved, a machine service error may have occurred. Please contact your local Service Center.

My cannon MP160 pixma keeps telling me there is a

Hello thanks for using fixya

Actually you are facing E3 error, E3 error is mostly because of paper jam. their may be small bit paper jam in side
There are some "micro-sensors" that detect a paper jam. There will be tiny piece of paper, or a lump of dust, inside those sensors, thus "tripping" the sensor and saying you paper jam.

To solve it
Open printer cover and check to make sure no paper or foreign objects obstructing the printer feeder

If you become sure that now really there is no paper, dust or foreign objects then
Turn the printer off, and disconnect the AC power-cable. Open the printer cover & now give the printer a "blow-job" by compressed air.
If still problem exist then best & final option is to just contact to any Canon service provider.

I hope this solution will helpful 4 u
Please don't forget to click on Four thumbs which are given below & then write testimonial for my appreciation if it is helpful

Canon MP160 Error E42

Scanner light should come on at power up. Found ribbon cable connecting scanner unit to base had come unplugged from socket on circuit board. The ribbon cable is one of three found near back hinge of scanner and is hidden underneath the other two. It should drape over the edge of circuit board and then plug into small recepticle on inner side of board. I plugged it in and printer works again. Hope this helps.

I face error code 2,114,0 error in canon printer

Is it a refill or compatible cartridge? If so then the printer will not read full ink levels only with genuine Canon ink.

The printer will work with refills/compatibles but you need to press the reset button (this should be a small round button which has a red triangle in a circle on it) hold it down for a fair few seconds and that will get the printer working. You just ignore the message of low ink.

If they are genuine inks then it may be the connectors need a gentle wipe with cartridge flush as there may be something on them that's not allowing them to make the correct connection with the printer.

If they still won't work you need to take them back to where you bought them and ask for replacements as the ones you were given are faulty. I’m happy to assist further over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/joe_8b8c2cd6ce148309

I was given a Canon

You have 2 options depends on the local prices..
1. Get the manuals and drivers from the below link

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mp_series/pixma_mp160

you needs to buy 1. Power Cord 2. data cord (computer usb to printer port)

2. As you said just sell it.

my advice is better to buy powercord and data cord and use it IF catridges are in workin condition...
