I have had blackberrys for years and never thought

Have you tried plugging the SIM card into another phone? And try to retrieve the messages from there? That is if the problem is with the phone lock and not the SIM lock.

Let me know. I would like to help you resolve this issue and retrieve your saved messages back.

How to unlock from internet for sim usage

Hello, you can get an unlock code from internet for your blackberry.
Once unlocked you will be able to use your BB with any carrier (GSM) of your choice worldwide.
You can get your unlock code from here.
Code comes via email and with step by step instructions. Total process is hardly 30 seconds long once you have the unlock code.
Hope this is helpful.

RIM Blackberry 8330 Mini USB Charge Port Connector

"...loose" ???

do you mean the plug doesn't fit snugly and has to be jiggled to charge ?

If so, this is a simple repair you can perform yourself if you're skilled with a soldering iron.

What has happened is the USB connector and the guide post (black plastic thing in the center with the contacts) has loosened. This is becoming a commonly published issue with newer BB's and RIM refuses to call it a defect and recall the millions of afflicted phones.

The connector is standard and can be replaced with a MiniUSB plug from almost any device including a digital camera. If you have experiences with a local electronics repair shop then have them replace the USB connector.

There are numerous services on the web who can perform this repair and often for less than $50 USD.

My blackberry turns off when I connect it to the computer.

If this occurs when you use the AC wall charger the phone could be ruined.

Verify by connecting the phone WITHOUT the battery and look for a brief hourglass / busy indidcator then a "No Battery" or "Insert Battery" message likely in stark font on a bare background.
IF your phone spits that message w/o the battery then the issue could be as simple as a malfunctioning battery and consider trying a working battery to determine if your original problem recurs.

You can also dissamble the phone and examine the solder connectors from the power / data input to look for any weakness or breaks, if so then a simple solder repair will save your expensive berry.

GETTING SOS AT THE ANTENNA BAR

Your phone has gone into emergency mode. You need to look through the menu for antenna settings, or network settings, and when you see "Emergency Mode" or something alot like it highlighted, switch it to normal.

If you are not comfortable with this process, take in to your cell service provider's store, and they will set you right up free of charge.

Hope this helps!!

Blackberry 8800 Kills Battery within 12 hrs. Replaced 2 batts.

there are a lot of little things that drain the battery. i have made adjustments to my phone and the battery lasts me 3-5 days depending on its usage.

1. turn off the LED coverage indicator(usually blinks green when u have signal, red when u dont)
2. change your back light timer to 10, 20, or 30 seconds.
3. do not overcharge the phone, it will lower the capacity level of the battery. only charge it when its low and take it off when its full.
4. check the reminder notifications from messages/voicemail/txt,etc. set it to one or two.
5. check to see if you are roaming or searching for service. the constant searching drains the battery.
6. check to see that u have exited the programs u were using. if u have installed maps, navigation, etc and just back out of the program without exiting the GPS is constantly updating your position.
Hope this helps.

The ball won't scroll down

Have you removed the ball at any time? If it is put back in wrong, it could cause this. If not, the ball assembly itself might be bad. You can find them fairly cheap on eBay.

Bb8800 the pearl/cursor does not scroll up

This is usally caused by the trackball getting dirty.

Use a q-tip dipped in IPA and clean it. Roll the trackball around and swab the q-tip around to clean.

If cleaning fails then you will need to replace the Blackberry trackball.

Check the following link on instructions on how to do that.

Telus Blackberry 8830 World Edition with Rogers SIM?

Unfortunately, you can't use the current Storm model on Rogers. The Telus network is CDMA (Rogers is GSM), which means Telus' wireless products do not use SIM cards :-(
If it's any consolation, there is supposed to be a Blackberry Storm released soon that will use SIM cards and could be used on Rogers.

Not charging

Go to your cell phone store and have them try another charger.
If that doesn't work your phone is damaged and needs to be repaired.
I hope this helps.

Try these steps. Not in any certain order.

There should be 5 applications that are always open.

Select Menu/Blackberry Button

Select General Options

Pull out battery and leave out for 30 Seconds.

Make sure it's not low.

Hello Java is a language that works with navigators most of the time. Often when this software is not up to date, you have error messages.
A fix for you would then be to download and install all the updates available for your BlackBerry, from here:

Hope this helps
