Volume low when watching dvd

Not much you can do about this. The movie industry sets movies to low volume when recording for better sound. They expect you to have the equipment to boost the sound. This cuts down on their outside noise. Only solution for this is to install external speakers as I have done for my movie or TV playing (I installed a TV adapter so I could hook up a projector and display the BIG game outside) but as you say, we couldn't hear it until I hooked up external speakers.

Drive for HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4082N ATA Device

First thing I would do is go to My Computer or just Computer (under Vista) and see if drive exists. If it does show up it could be dirty and needs cleaning. If this doesn't help replace the drive. If it doesn't exist, Widows didn't see the drive at all and you need to pull it out and verify connections and possibly clean the connectors on DVD player. Plug it back in and Windows should say new drive found, if it doesn't I'd replace it.

What button do i hit to reformatt hardrive on toshiba sattelite p

First do you have all the software CDs that came with your machine, if not you will have to obtain a copy of whatever Windows software you prefer, when you format you lose EVERYTHING, only the BIOS is left.

If thats all ok the go to the bottom of your screen and click on "RUN" a dialog box will appear in this dialog box type in "Format C:/ and follow directions and good luck, you are in for hours and hours of work getting your computer back where you like it again.

Need to replace hdd but cant copy old one

The Drives Reader arm Is Either Stuck Or Knocked Off Track And Can' Pass Over The Platters... The Hard Drive Will Need To Be Opened Up And Inspected/Repaired Before Data Can Be Retrieved..
You would hear a ticking or knocking sound if the arm is not working right.. If It Sounds Like its Running Properly You Might Have Erased Data by Scratching The Platters, You Can Try Using A Software Named.. Recover My Files..... And Do A Low Level Search, If THere's any life in the drive, This Program will find the data.....

Maybe your graphics card and/or display went bad. If I were both of you, I would check that out and see. if so, then you would have to buy a new computer screen for your computers.

Any key! This may help if its a display setting problem:
Fn & F5 simultaneously, cycles the display output through the 5 modes. (hold the Fn key down, and press the F5 key, press it again, give it time to change before you press it each time)
the 5 modes are:

3.External monitor only
4.built in display and TV
5. TV only
*note: Internal display resolution must match external display resolution, and that resolution must be

Touchpad is not working - TOSHIBA Satellite A135-2386

Hey there... :D

Could you try the Fn+F9 Key to Disable/Enable your touchpad mouse?

Because just now i've experiencing the same problem as you guys... and turns out I can make my touchpad working just by pressing the Fn+F9 key.

Note: if your Fn key is not working try installing Toshiba utilities for A135 called FlashCard, run the program and there will be a dropdown menu at the upperside of your screen...
then click on F9 >> and choose Enable.... Thats It... :)

I hope it also solved your problem... :D

Satellite A135-S2386

check Toshiba site for oem driver video update. seems like you did an upgrade for a card your unit does not have installed. last resort go to 'device manager' check status box for 'display driver' and see what card is used in your unit. also check Toshiba website for the specs on your model.

Unable to open windows

try booting into safe mode (hit F8 repeatedly when you reboot until a safe mode option comes up) then if you are able to log in, go to the windows run prompt, type "msconfig" go to startup, disable all, services, disable all. reboot. see if it still does the same, if it doesn't one of those services are causing blue screen. Also try reverting to previous drivers if you did any driver updates, remove any new cards/hardware you might of installed recently.

If you can't get into safe mode, at a copy of any xp disk. boot up from it. (make sure your boot devices are set that cd rom is before hdd in cmos setup) then go to the recovery console "you press 'r' when ou have various option" type 1 for the windows, enter. enter for password unless you previously set an admin password.

Then type "chkdsk /p", let it run also type fixboot, and say yes. reboot and see if this solves your problem.
