Hi if you tried doing a hard reset and the player boots up to 3 then goes away the HD ribbon cable could be bad. If If the player is getting stuck on any of the set when doing a hard reset then theres an issue with your HD. The HD might have a bad sector in it and will need to be ran threw some repair software to try and fix it. If that does not help then the HD will need to be replaced. The 120's are bad about having the HD fail in them.

Hi if you are getting the error 5 message on your player you can try doing a hard reset to re install the firmware. You might have to do this several times. If that does not help then the HD will need to be replace as it has when bad.

Hi if your player is getting stuck on the 3 p lease wait screen you have a HD or HD ribbon issue. The HD ribbon can be replaced sometimes to fix the issue and other times the HD is going bad or has a bad sector in it.

Hi if you are getting the battery symbol on the player but faint in color you need to let the player chare for a while If after a few hours the player does not boot up or the battery symbol goes away. something is getting hot and making it shut down. The main board might be the issue and will need to be replace.

Hi if your player want charge at all check the USB port on the player for damage or the USB cable could be bad also. If that not it and you do not get any battery symbol on the player at all when plugged in you either have a battery issue or and main board isssue. If you do get a battery symbol for a second or 2 and then it goes away you have a battery issue. Either way something will need to be replaced. Hope this helps

If the screen is black try reloading the firmware if you can. It that does not work then the ribbon on the LCD screen is damaged or the connection where the LCD ribbon and main board meets theres an issue there and one of them will most likely need to be replaced.

Hi you can try reloading the firmware if the player will connect with the computer and see it. If that is not it and you say you are only getting a black screen with back lighting only but the player does connect then you have an issue with your LCD screen or the ribbon connection where it connects to the main board. One of those items will most likely need to be replaced.

If the player has been setting around for a year the battery might not start taking a charge again. If the player was working fine when you stopped using it and now it want do anything you can try leaving to hooked up over night and if you still do not get anything then I would say the battery needs to be replaced.

If the player is not powering up with a hard reset or plugging it into the computer or wall charger please check the USB port to see if it is damaged and it also can be the USB cable. It its not any of these then something has happened to your main board and it will most likely need to be replaced.

Your head phone jack is bad or something on the main board dealing with the sound has gone out. I have see this with several 30GB Zune player. You can try re loading the firmware and see if that helps.

Check the USB port for damage and it can also be the USB cable thats bad. IF thats not the issue then even thought the USB port on the player does not look damaged there could still be an issue with it an you will have to have the main board replaced most likely. Hope this helps

Hi you need to check and see if the USB port on the player is damaged or it the USB cable itself is bad. The 8GB players are know for this. The battery might be the issue also. hope this helps

Hi if the player was at least booting up you can do what they call a hard reset on the player to wipe it out and see if it will correct the problem. You might have to do the hard reset several times before it will take. Even if you can get it to work it just means the HD is going bad and will need to be replaced sooner or later. Hope this helps

If your player will not power on at all buy was working when you left something is wrong with your battery for my experience. The player is not hard to take apart and if you can get a replacement battery its easy to change. Hope this helps

Have you tried re installing the firmware on your player. If yes then you either have an issue with the head phone jack itself or something on the main board dealing with the sound as went out. I have ran into this issue with the 30GB Zune player often. Hope this helps

You are having an issue with your HD. The HD needs to be removed from the player and ran threw some software to format it and see if it can be repaired, If the HD cant be repaired it will need to be replaced. Hope this helps

Hi if the lock switch is stuck on hold and the lock switch is in the off position you will need to get the lock switch/head phone jack assemble replaced in your player.
