One last ditch effort: Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

And, yeah, as far as the international replacement - that is how all the manufacturers are - they are not willing to pay the cost to keep their customers. Also, they have no process in place for fulfilling such a request, even if they have offices in both countries (which most of them do). Sad, really.

I know hoe u can fix it up but itll erase everything first.
1. hold the back and up key to restart.
2. after the zune logo goes off, hold the back, center and play button all together. it'll display code three, dont release yet. keep holding till it goes i think code 1 or 2. asking u to connect to pc. then do it.
3. update the software and ur good to go.

i called microsoft when this happened and this ***** told me i need to pay 150 bux to get a new one. thats bull since ive been down with zune since gen 1

I just got an update from the team that I want to share with you. Great news! It looks like this issue will resolve itself over the next 24 hours. Please read the response below. Thank you all for your extreme patience with this!

Early this morning we were alerted by our customers that there was a widespread issue affecting our 2006 model Zune 30GB devices (a large number of which are still actively being used). The technical team jumped on the problem immediately and isolated the issue: a bug in the internal clock driver related to the way the device handles a leap year. The issue should be resolved over the next 24 hours as the time change moves to January 1, 2009. We expect the internal clock on the Zune 30GB devices will automatically reset tomorrow (noon, GMT). By tomorrow you should allow the battery to fully run out of power before the unit can restart successfully then simply ensure that your device is recharged, then turn it back on. If you’re a Zune Pass subscriber, you may need to sync your device with your PC to refresh the rights to the subscription content you have downloaded to your device.

Customers can continue to stay informed via the support page on zune.net (zune.net/support).

We know this has been a big inconvenience to our customers and we are sorry for that, and want to thank them for their patience.

Everytime ii charge it it shows the zune logo but then says contact support

hold the back button and the up button until you see the Zune logo then release. if this doesnt work then you are going to have to reset your Zune....however this will loose all the data on the zune so your music/movies will be completely gone. you are going to need to press and hold the back and up button until the zune logo appears then hold the back,play/pause, and the center button until you see "please wait"if this doesnt work you have some serious issue. Contact customer support

Plug it in. If there is more to this issue then add more information a general statement like that is impossible to answer.

Charge the Zune using your computer (if you have one) and then when it turns on, then you got it fixed. If it is charged but won't do anything, then press the back button and up on the control panel.
