Sony VAIO VGN-SZ460N/C Notebook Questions & Answers
Hello my no is 08033771188 my username is chidex45 i forgot my password
To resolve these problems, you can simply change or reset forgotten Windows password with a
Windows password reset disk.
A password reset disk is a flash drive configured with your current
password, specially formatted to reset the password on Windows machine
when you ever forget it. It acts as a key to unlock the account. But the
problem is that we often forgot to create a password reset disk and
cannot log on computer with any user account.Of course, a common solution is to use a third party software, just take
Windows Password Unlocker
for example. It can help you remove lost Windows password including
Windows administrator, user and domain password on Windows
7/Vista/XP/2000/2003(R2)/2008(R2), etc. You can easily reset Windows
password with a bootable CD/DVD or USB flash drive in hand.

I have a Sony Vaio
The first step should be to browse the producers website to see if there are drivers for Windows 7. If not you can try to install vista drivers for your peripherals many times they work anyway.

I need drivers for ethernet
Your Notebook Manufacturing Company SONY says that your Notebook Model
VGN-SZ460N/C is optimized to work with Vista OS only. So the drivers you will be installing for XP may lost some of their functionality under XP platform. Still, you can download all your Notebook supporting drivers from this link.
Download Drivers from here But
remember to select your
Operating System (XP/Vista/Seven) when you will be downloading from the above site.
I hope this will be helpful to you.

I am unable to booth up my laptop, nothing comes
It sounds like you might have a fan problem that overloaded your HDD, if this is the case you might need to get a whole new HDD because the information can be fried. If possible, backup your information and install it on the new HDD if that's the case.

Ater power switch put on
remove the battery, plug the laptop up into the wall outlet and turn it on. If it boots fine then its your battery. Other then that the possibilities are this.
1. Your Processor has gone to junk
2. your hard drive has fried
3. or the pc board has fried.
Do you hear the hard drive spinning at all? if not this would be the first thing i would check. Only problem only real way to test it at home is if you got an other laptop put it in their and turn it on or buy a new one.
To test the board best way to do is open up your laptop by removing screws on the bottom, and looking over the bored and seeing if you see any burnt areas.
To test the CPU, really isnt a easy way to test this either, other then put a new one in.
IMPORTANT: if your laptop is under warenty opening up your laptop and trying to replace these will avoid your warrenty with this company.
best thing to do if under warrenty is to contact sony vaio,
if not take it to a repair shop, or try replacing the above things, starting with the hardrive
also make sure the ram is pushed into the board. (it looks like a rectangle)

Sony Vaio VGN-SZ460N Freezes during Full Recovery
Probably a memory problem even though it doesn't show up on a memory test. Enter the bios and select the option for default setup, "not the optimized setup". Also if you have more then one memory module, remove one and try the install, if you have two try using the one you removed first as the only memory module during the install process. If you have any cards plugged into the computer, remove them all before starting the install. Also all usb cables. Make the system as simple as you can for the new install.

Sony Vaio VGN-SZ460N - freezes on System Recovery
I put my money on that you have a CPU over temperature problem, and/or intermittent RAM problem.
Be sure you are ESD safe when working on the electronics as follow !
I suggest, using a eye piece magnifier and a wooden tooth pick and carefully touch each pin of your RAM sockets and see if the soldering is bad, allowing the pin to move slightly. If that happens, well it needs re-soldering there, make sure you use leaded solder, not the ROHS crapp.
If that turns out to be ok, then check your processor. It might over heat.
You may want to observe if the CPU fans runs at all and if it runs at full speed most the time, even if you don't run any 'heavy' programs. This usually would indicate poor heat dissipation. Most Sony Laptops have a piece of thermal foam pad is used for heat transfer from the CPU chip into the heat sink. Over time this pad shrinks, effectively impeding the heat transfer causing the CPU to over heat and intermittent shutdowns ect. I suggest, find a new piece of thermal pad or replace that with a piece of copper sheet material and use Thermalloy transfer paste.
