How to switch from VGA to dvi

There should be a "input" button on the side of the monitor. As long as the device you are trying to use with the monitor is plugged in and on you should be able to toggle through with the buttons. If there is no button you can simply go into settings and tell the monitor to search for a signal.

Hanns g hx191d no picture. My monitor went black while I was working, the green led is lit, I get a picture for a split second when I first turn on the computer or monitor.

Hello,The most common cause of this type of display issues is a failure of the back light power supply. There are parts called capacitors that fail and this causes the power supply to not be able to put out the correct voltages to operate the monitor. You cn repair the monitor easily by replacing the bad capacitors on the power supply board. The old ones need to re desoldered and the new ones soldered back in place. You can get a kit of the proper capacitors to do the repair here:http://www.ccl-la.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=194

Cannot remove "input signal out of range"

input signal out of range would normally indicate the the screen resoloution is either too high or too low for the monitor to display properly.

I have Hanns-G and now I don't have a picture at

If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on: Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

What does it mean by dead cells?

I assume this is related to your LCD monitor.
I think you mean dead pixels. The LCD monitor has tiny pixel elements, one for each red, blue, green color and each one of these colored pixels are turnes on by a transistor. When a transistor fails then the colored pixel it controls does not light up. This is a dead pixel and it shows up as a tiny black dot.
If the screen displays a blue screen, a dead blue pixel will appear as a tiny black dot in the blue screen.
You normally would not notice a few dead pixels unless they are grouped together.
