Ok Fellas I found the Problem!
The Problem is the V4 Y-Main Board. This board is located on the left side of the case looking upright from the back. I spoke with may suppliers, and Sanyo all confirming this. Apparently it has been an issue for some time. Sanyo has replaced the V4 Y Main board with a W1 Y main board in newer models. The W1 Board is NOT compatible for us tho. Just to be sure... If your T.V is taken apart (like mine) Disconnect the peripheral cable from the V4 Y Main, and turn on the set. I bet it will power up with audio and channel function just NO picture. When you plug the board back in... POOF set shuts down. Replacement boards are VERY hard to come by. So Happy Hunting!

42' HD V4 Y-MAIN
PCB: LJ41-02760A LJ41-02761A LG92-01200A BN96-03352A

Oh yeah.. just FYI, Sanyo, Phillips, and Samsung all use the same parts. Hopefully that will help your searching.

power light comes on, but no sound or picture

After 1 year and 9 months, when we turn the TV on (with the power button or remote), the light comes on the bottom left corner, but no picture or sound. No lightning hit the TV or anything, my wife said the TV had some strange colors on it for a minute and then went black.

Sanyo won't do anything for me, I'd like to try to fix it myself, but need to learn where to start.

Most probable cause is a bad power supply, or at least that where to start. Lay unit flat on a blanket or carpet, being careful not to twist the display. Remove the back panel, probably 15-20 screws, and measure output voltages on the PSU. There should be silk screen ID's to help. - If any are missing or off, then replace the PSU.

I am a military spouse and our same tv did the same thing on Super Bowl Sunday 2009! We did everything we know to do: call the company, called the repair man, etc. There apparently isn't a solution to this that wouldn't cost more than the tv is worth. So I got an attorney to start a class action:

Sanyo DP42746 won't turn back on

I have an 18 month old DP42746 and the other day, my kids were watching tv and all of a sudden, the screen went black and the sound died. Upon turning it back on, the relay on the back clicked on for a few seconds then turned off again. Now I've got a 1500.00 black mirror. From what I've read so far, the Y-main is probably gone (probably a diode or transistor) and possibly the lower buffer board. I've bypassed protect mode and now I only get sound out of the video out modes. LED is flashing 12 times indicating a D12V problem. Anyone know where I can purchase these circuit boards or even have them repaired?

I basically paid $1,000 a year to have this piece of grud. I am having the same problem everyone else is. It shuts off by it's self, then when I try to turn it back on, it shuts it self back off or the picture looks like its having a hard time showing. Very frustrated and feel ripped off.

sanyo dp42746 Suddenly no picture, minutes later, no sound.

Can you explain in a little more detail, how to test the main y board. I am trying to check the power supply as you suggested but cannot find exactly where I am supposed to unplug. When you say just to the left of the power supply box, are you talking the box that the cord runs from to plug into the wall?? Thanks

The buffers are attached to the Y main, on the left side of the board. Samsung, sanyo, several others all have the same boards. As long as they are the right part # just go for the best price. Check www.shopjimmy.com for used boards.

For what it's worth, you can download the official Sanyo repair manual for this TV (DP42746) at http://www.eserviceinfo.com/downloadsm/43343/sanyo_dp42746.html. I uploaded it here when I had some issues with this TV last year. The solution almost always seems to be to replace the Power Board and the Upper and Lower Y Buffers. The parts and costs (from Sanyo in July 2009) are listed below (NOTE: Sanyo will not ship these parts to anyone but a repair shop):
1. V4 Y-Main (Y-Sustain) Circuit Board (Part # LJ92-01200A, Alt Part # LJ41-02759A) - USD $139.00
2. Upper Y-Buffer Circuit Board (Part # LJ92-01202A, Alt Part # LJ41-02760) - USD $64.00
3. Lower Y-Buffer Circuit Board (Part # LJ92-01203A, Alt Part # LJ41-02761A) - USD $64.00
Sanyo charges USD $10.50 for shipping, which brings the total cost for parts to USD $277.50. From my research, a shop would probably charge between USD $500 and $700 to do this repair. FYI - there is a class action lawsuit pending against Sanyo for this issue. The V4 Y-Main (Y-Sustain) Circuit Boards fail VERY frequently in this TV due to overheating. Hope this helps.

i would suspect the Y-SUSTAIN board as the problem they can fail and the tv will stay on with no video. they way to verify would be to check fuses on the board they are usually white and look like traditional GMA fuses usually located near connectors for power.

Sanyo Plasma DP42746 (No Picture or Sound)

The other day my tv went all fuzzy and then just went black. This happened in under about 2 seconds tops. When the tv did this, the power light was still on indicating it was receiving power. I unplugged my tv and plugged it back in, to notice my tv power light was still on even though i didn't turn the tv back on after unplugging it. I opened the back the of the tv and looked at the "Error Position Light" and it flashed once as i plugged my tv back in, and that was it. If it flashes once, it means a "VA" problem. I've tried googling it but could not find out what it means. Any help is greatly appreciated.
