I'm trying to connect my notebook to my TV using a
If you are using Windows, you need to setup your laptop to send video out using the HDMI. The method for this depends on what video card you have in your laptop (NVIDIA, ATI, etc.). There should be a control panel associated with your video card, often in your taskbar (near the clock). All of my computers have NVIDIA cards and I can get to the NVIDIA control panel by right-clicking on my desktop and selection NVIDIA control panel. Once in the control panel, look for something along the lines of "set up displays" or "HDMI". This should provide you with a few options where you can enable your HDMI and choose whether you want to see everything on just your TV, just your laptop, or both. Once you apply these settings, you should be able to use your laptop with your TV.
Also, for sound, you need to right click on the volume icon in your task bar (the speaker shaped one) and select "Playback Devices". A window will popup and usually displays three options. The active one will likely be your notebook's speakers, but there is also on for HDMI. Right click on it and select "set as default device". This plays the sound through your TV's speakers instead of your notebook's. When you're done using the HDMI, you'll need set your laptop speakers as the default device again in order to play sound through them again. Hope this helped.
Can it be fixed
Almost any set ca be fixed. Could be the T Con board. But given the high cost of parts and repairs would a repair be cost effective?
Prices of these sets have come down tremendously and you get a warranty to boot. So......................

Does the audio stay working and just the picture goes out, or does everything drop out picture and audio?
Vertical line on LCD TV Panel
Had this same issue on right side of 52" about 1 inch from side but had 3 vertical lines that disappeared after 40 minutes. Have Samsung LNT5265FX/XXA and about 16 months old. LCD Panel itself had to be replaced to fix it, fortunately had extended service plan

I can't get the TV to change to HDMI from HDM2, so
You may need to setup your blu-ray player to play the video through HDMI instead of another technology (composite, component, etc.). Unless HDMI is selected, no video will be sent from the player through the wire and your TV will think it's not connected. To make the switch, you will probably need to hookup your blu-ray player using its default means of connection. The method of changing this setting varies depending on the model of the player, so you should consult your owner's manual if it isn't apparent in the options menu. Once you make the switch, the TV will likely go blank. At which point, turn off the player, unplug the old-fashioned cables and plug in the HDMI cable as before. If this doesn't solve your problem, or if this process doesn't apply to your device, you should call tech support at the company that made the blu-ray player just in case there is a fault in the device.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.
How do i reset this tv other than unpluging it?
There are two types of reset to TVs.
The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset; and the other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight; will be better. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here.

Hi i have a 42" LG lcd tv .When i switch it on
the inverter for the backlight likely has a bad capacitor or more. The fluctuating high voltage is causing the jumping and eventual blackness until sufficient charge is on the caps, at which point it stabilizes...it eventually will stay black unless the caps are replaced.
