You need to set the resolution on the PC to native resolution (1024 x768 @60Hz) of your LCD monitor, the resolution was too high for the monitor to display, that is why you get the error message. Start the PC into save mode by hitting F8 key during boot up then reset the resolution to your monitor native resolution and then reboot.
I need a cord to hook up the monitor to the
Go to BestBuy or Walmart and get a VGA video cable. They can be had for about 10 bucks. Look at the plugs on your monitor and video port on your computer to make sure you get the proper ends on your cable. It will be either male-female or male-male ends.
I hope this helps.
X2Gen 17" LCD Monitor Shuts Off
It might be the power adapter. How long has this been going on? Have you emailed Newegg to see if they would replace it for you ? did you buy the extended warranty? It might also be your power cable. The worse case could be that something in the printed circuit board failed. I would say you have a few choices 1) computer store - have them check the monitor 2) Email NEWEGG and see if they will replace it 3) repair/replace the monitor
What does out of range mean and how do i fix it
It means the resolution the computer is trying to display is not compatible with the monitor. Adjust your screen resolution with window's Display properties; on many systems, you can simply right click the desktop and select 'properties' from the context menu. You should be able to find a setting that works.
You also might want to google the optimum resolution for your monitor.
Out of range message on screen
Check video display properties for 1440 X 900?(19inch) at 60hz, sometimes a well intentioned driver update from M$ will clobber mine the same way.

Looks like they are from about 2005, they only have a 1 year limited warranty. Looks like it may be time for a new one.
Good luck,

Brightness controls
Unfortunately, the x2gen company has declared bankruptcy and gone out of business due to legal trouble (x2gen.com). Manuals are no longer available online.
Unless you can find someone who can read the menus for you, or has an old manual laying around, I can pose a couple alternative, albeit tedious, solutions.
Using http://babelfish.altavista.com/ you can translate your menu... that is, you can type "BRIGHTNESS" in English, and request the Japanese translation. Locate the text in the menu that matches the translation. Tedious, yes, but it would work. To use this for non-arabic based character sets, you will need to install a Japanese font on your system, otherwise the text will return as "?????" question marks (in place of each Japanese character).
Another alternative would be to take a photograph of your menu screen and submit it to a forum to have an online user do the translation for you...
Just some ideas - hopefully you can make some progress...
Monitor w2gen mg15vt
I had a somewhat similar problem. Mine was still under warranty. bad news is that x2gens parent company just filed for chapter 11. which is why their RMA website is unresponsive. I bought mine through a 3rd party retailer who refunded the entire purchase price of the monitor. HELL YEAH! Good luck unloading all ur x2gen stuff when it craps out cuz all warranties are essentially useless now.
Monitor remains in standby
turn the monitor off and the computer off. unplug it from the wall. let set for 10 sec. make sure you have it in the right place and in all the way. turn computer back on, then the monitor.
