Crackling
Yeah, I've had two of these go out on me in exactly that failure mode. The first time, C-V bounced me around to two repair shops (a three-month process) before telling me to send it to them in Florida. This time, I went directly back to C-V with it, and they've had it two months now, and every time I call for a status update, I'm told "We'll let you know," or "We're working on the paperwork." Their service and support staff are not helpful - friendly, but not helpful - and the failure rate I've experienced is absolutely unforgivable.
So, my best solution I can give you is send it back for a warranty adjustment, and then sell it. As soon as mine comes back this 2nd time, it's going on the market, and I'm going out to buy a Sony.
