The power supply could be failing.

Philips 50MF231D... | Answered on Jul 22, 2017

if you are using the TV with a cable receiver, connect the TV to a DVD player, make sure all volume are turned on and observe if the TV will bring an sound.

If you don't hear any sound, then it means the audio chip/sound IC is defective, or maybe it has been tampered with unknowingly, when fixing the power problem.

Again, one way to confirm if actually, the audio chip/sound IC is the cause of the problem, connect a earphone to the TV headset part and if you do not hear any sound, then it means the audio chip/sound IC is the cause of the problem.

So, cross check the audio chip/sound IC, read it with a meter to know if it's defective. If its defective, make necessary replacement, just like you need when replacing the 2 blown caps on the power suppl board of your TV.

I hope this helps.

Good luck.

If you remove the back, you might see a couple of electrolytic caps that are bulged on the power supply, that need to be replace, or just replace the power supply itself. There are also two readings, that you can read, the VA voltage and The VS voltage. There will be a label on the inside on the back farme that will tell you what the VS, VA, voltages should read on the output of the power supply.

Take the back off of the TV and look at the power supply board (middle of the set). One or more electrolitic capacitors will have the tops swelled up. Replace them with the same value parts and you will be OK.

Should have been 3300 UF 10V caps that were bad? Shouls have been replaced with 3300UF 18V. 50V is huge. If it was replaced with a 50 the polarity may be wrong or the cap it too big to be seated property. Sometimes the caps just dry out and even a normal looking one will be the culprit of no OSD. Are you getting an LED fault code blinking? That should be a red led. Do you hear the relay clicking.? When you replaced the caps did you charge them? Just plugging in the set without trying to power it on for about 20-30 mins. I may be able to help you
