get your self a external dvd rom or make a boootable usb drive,it has an option to boot from the usb

try to look for driver update at your graphic card company if its nvidia go to nvidia.com if its amd go to amd.com

On every computer motherboard there is what's called a UART chip. This chip is responsible for capturing every keyboard click, interpreting what letter it is, converting it to zeros or ones used by computers, and sending it to the processor for action. If this chip fails, even replacing the keyboard won't fix it.
Unfortunately this chip is usually part of the motherboard so the only way to replace it is to replace the motherboard, which usually isn't cheap. If you can live with the external keyboard you might want to stay with that. Otherwise, if you Google sony Vaio motherboards, I'm sure you can find a number of sources online to purchase a motherboard. Replacing one is tricky but not insurmountable if you take your time and can follow directions, also available online.

Try to clean the keyboard. Sometimes the key might got struck, check for the \ key whether it is struck or not. If the problem persists you have to call Sony service center.

You better go to service station now, only they people can help you.

after that sony is giving a facility to create a backup/restor disk, just ask them they will guide you how you can do it. aftr that make a disk so in future you can restore your os yourself.

if you look under your laptop there should be one screw that holds the door for the ram card take it out and take it with you to any computer store and buy the 1gb ram your maximum is 1.2GB or
1.5GB ram

make sure you do all of this maintenance with your computer off.

It is required to check whether it is a Hardware issue or issue related with any Software. For this, login to BIOS by continuously tapping the F2 key on the startup, if you can view vertical lines in the BIOS, it will be a Hardware issue related to the LCD monitor, and it is required to service the Computer in any service center. If the vertical lines disappear in the BIOS mode, the issue is with any of the Softwares or drivers installed in the Computer.
Resolution steps:
