Xerox 8500 yellow ink melter

Maybe this problem has to do with power, in other words a little more power is being sent to the yellow ink melter thus increasing the heat to a fault creating level ie in excess of normal. Sometimes there is a fan present to keep the temperature in check. Ensure it is functional and is clean of dust. Also try speaking to a Xerox technician maybe they have come across this problem, it could be a design fault, or a defect with your Printer. Of course if it under warranty take it straight to them. As a last resort I would take it to a technician, weigh up the cost for a new printer.
As it may be cheaper to purchase a new printer than it is to have your one repaired!

PDF documents do not print completely on my Xerox Phaser 8500

I am having the same problem. Sometimes my Xerox Phaser 8500 prints a PDF or web page fine, and other times I get pages and pages of what looks like PostScript code. I thought I had installed the most recent printer drivers, We are using primarily Macs with OS 10.4 or 10.5. One recent change is that we connected the printer to an Airport Express using a USB cable, which is sweet when it works correctly....any ideas???

I get an error message.

Hi.

07,010.43 means that the Print Head is stuck in incorrect position.

59062 is just a counter.

Dirt in te wiper assembly is often causing te print head getting stuck and prompting this error. Turn power off, disconnect power cord, and check print head and wiper assembly. If that is not the problem, then either the process gearbox is out of alignment or the printhead restraints are broken.

Regards.

Ginko.

Xerox 8500 is burning out the yellow ink melter in

It a problem with the heater element for sure, and it sure sounds like the current feed to it is excessive, which could be a power supply problem (or the part of the supply that feeds the yellow melter element). Not sure if you've tried Xerox's network support site, but you can hook up to it and get help with diagnosis, which will hopefully help you figure this out. Here's the page:
http://www.office.xerox.com/printers/color-printers/phaser-8500-8550/sprt-enus.html
Go down 3 paragraphs, and you'll see the link to the remote support:
This problem will require part's replacement, and I would recommend trying to identify the bad component (or board), and then choose to replace it yourself or call a service person.
Wish I had better news, but hope this helps.

The maintenance kit needs to touch contacts to reset it.

There is a camshaft 020K14800 which may be cracked and therefore doesn't position these contacts. I suggest replacing this.

PHASER 8500DN ERROR CODE: 09,038,46.8515

That is a black ink stick count failure.
It is not seeing the black ink stick.
See if a stick is broken or not in place. One may be twisted or just jammed.
Outside chance you would need an ink loader because the sensor is not detecting the ink
Check the black sticks see if you can clear it by moving them around or sliding them up and out and reloading.

Xeorox phaser 8500 error message

That is very bad indeed. Have you already tried unplugging the printer for a good 10 minutes, then replugging it in to see if it kick-starts the hardware?

If so let me know...

Waste tray is not being

Hello,

There are a few possible could cause this. First, the fuser assembly may be damaged or at the end of its life. The solution is to replace the fuser assembly. Repairing a fuser assembly is generally not recommended because the fuser is considered a consumable printer part and not worth the time or effort to fix. Second, the toner cartridge may be defective and letting too much toner out at one time. In a black-and-white laser printer, the solution is to replace the toner cartridge.

Take care.

http://www.support.xerox.com/go/results.asp?Xtype=download&prodID=8500_8550&Xlang=en_US&Xcntry=USA
download and reinstall the driver for it ...but remove all related software first ..go to the program files after removing the driver and the software related..and remove any folders that might have to do with previous installations...
after that reinstall it clean and give it a try ..
It might have something to do with the fact the it is connecting in network ..and may not be compatible ..or ..it might be just a strange settings ..and reinstalling it will default it ..

This is out of the service manual. Generally you can just remove the sides and home everything and it will work fine.
Harry

The 7,007.49, 7,008.41, 7009.42, and 7,010.43 errors indicate that the
Printhead was unable to tilt normally on its axis. Possible causes include:
■ The printer was powered off in the middle of a cleaning cycle and the
Wiper Blade has frozen to the Printhead.
■ A Drum Maintenance Camshaft lobe is broken and holding the Drum
Maintenance Kit’s oil roller against the Drum when it should be retracted
to its home position.
■ Process Drive not being aligned correctly.
■ A damaged Printhead Restraint.
■ Ink spilled in the Roll Block preventing proper Printhead motion.
■ Ink or other debris under the Printhead preventing proper motion.
■ The Wiper Assembly not being aligned correctly or ink spilled in the wiper
tracks.
■ The Head Tilt Gear not being homed correctly.
■ The X-Axis Motor nose cone not being installed correctly.
■ The ferrite torrid on the Printhead interface cable has slipped behind the
Printhead causing the Printhead to bind when it tilts backwards.
■ The black plastic shroud on the back of the Printhead is snapped off and
binding the Printhead when it tilts back.
Caution
After servicing the printer, manually set the following assemblies to their
home position before powering on the printer. See Section 6 for
instructions on setting these components to their home positions.
■ Printhead (tilted forward and disengaged from Printhead tilt gear)
■ Head Tilt Gear (disengaged from Process Drive train; arrows on left
frame point to each other)
■ Wiper Assembly (bottom of travel)
■ Process Drive (holes on Transfix Camshaft and Drum Maintenance
Camshaft line up with marks on frame, large gears within assembly
line up with holes in Process Drive housing)

The flag in the registration is probably broken. Order a "Preheat Deskew" 126K23150

One more question is "Why did that break?" Unless you were feeding alot of card stock, then you Camshafts may be cracked. These usually break together 080K02160 and 020K14800
