You have to use Garmin Express to register your unit. Download the program from Garmin and install to your PC. Your PC should auto id the unit. If it does not, download and install the Garmin USB drivers from the Garmin site.
Just got done "fixing" mine, turns out it didn't need any fixing whatsoever, just an update.
I had the same problem most of you seem to have:
Device: StreetPilot C340 worked great when I bought it and for months until one day, it just doesn't turn on...wtf right?
I was halfway done with tech support for an RMA request, (some of you might still need this) and that's when I noticed the usb input on the side of the device (like most of you I thought, why the hell does it even have one?) I plugged my universal camera usb cord into the pc, (At this point the device was on! and charging too!) and went to the garmin website, feel free to search but you will end up with this page:
pretty straight forward after this, follow the step by step depending
on whether you have a mac or pc, download and run the "webupdater" mine
was for windows, so I ran this all the way through and bam your good to
go, you even have the option of updating the voice and language preference after the initial updates.
What brand name is this clock radio? The serial number you posted covers several different makes of Alarm clock and there are a few different ways companies fit the batteries. Use the comment button below with more information and I'll try to help you more.
Goto garmin website.
Download web updater
Run this program and then connect the gps, it will then show what updates are available (not maps)
for maps your device needs to be registered on garmin website and it will then show you what maps you can buy for your device.

My Megellan Roadmate had the same problem the time was way off and the date read 8/06/2009 instead of 06/17/2009. I tried everything the previous posting mentioned to no avail. I called Magellan tech support and they talked me thru it. (1) Turn the unit on outside ( not in a building ) (2) Hold down on the power button for 20sec. then let go. (3) Turn the unit on and go to the map. (4) Touch the upper rt. corner were the bars are, the screen will change and say tracking X (#) of sattilites. wait untill the bars for the sattiligts all change to green now you can go back to the main menu and the time should be correct.
Have you checked the tomtom website (www.tomtom.com) for information / instruction / support to do this ?
Basically, you need:
- to have (i.e. download and install) the TomTom HOME (or MyDrive Connect) software on your computer
- to set up a TomTom user account and register your device
- to connect the device to your computer, and start the TomTom software.
- to sign in to your TomTom account and view the info/updates available for your device
- to select and download the data/software/map that you want, to update your device
I'm assuming you have a TomTom device and not one (an older model) that TomTom has reduce/limit/stop providing support/updates.
You can upgrade your Invion GPS-3V906 by going to the following website, http://www.invionusa.com/gps+support.html. You will find a GPS upgrade program on this webpage. Just follow the links for your specific product and you will be good to go.
if you didnt buy a garmin charger, you might of bought one thats not compatible with your garmin, even though they might of told you it was...try to charge it with the USB cable that was supplied with your garmin and hook it up to your computer for a few hours, then try it again and see if it took a charge...the usb cable is the preferred way to initially charge your garmin...if that fails, you probably have a bad usb connector in the gps (very common problem with those)
