It says Traveler but this camera was made under at least 2 brands from the company in China. Optimus and Traveler. Both are part number 16-3899 but are model DV-5040

just search on google their are hundreds of free file driver softwares..

Take the memory card out of your camera and look at it. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

It sounds like you have a bad ccd. It could be a lens issue also. There is no menu option on any camera I've seen that would cause this problem, so I think it has a serious defect.
Take it by a camera repair shop, and see what they think. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy a new one than have one repaired.
Sorry for the bad news, but it sounds like the camcorder's having a serious issue.

If you plug in the camcorder to the computer, it should show up in "my computer" or computer, which you can find from the desktop or the start menu. It should show up as "Removeable storage device" And inside you can find your videos etc.

take a look, or is it requesting a driver?

Also another way of getting the content to the computer would be to use a card reader. it will work as above and show up as a removeable storage device. Thats what I do with all my cameras etc.

Cheap card reader goes around 10$ or 20$ and reads all the cards out there Very easy to get any videos, pictures etc into the computer.

Well maybe making sure the battery is fully charged, remove the front lens cap if one is on camera, find the button to press to start to film and take aim at a thing to film that looks good, that's how most people get pictures.

how to turn on the flash?
