Westinghouse LCM22W2 shows a display then turns off after half a second

I have the same problem and have traced it down to a potential power supply issue.  I bought mine at Best Buy in '06 and was told today that they will test the power supply for free.  It may range from $50.00 to $100.00 depending on where you can get it.  This does not include labor for those not qualified to work with electronics.  Hope this helps you.

Are you trying to hook it up for the purpose of watching cable tv? Because if so I am not sure that you will be able to hook it up directly without a box considering it probably doesn't have digital capabilities. You might try getting a converter box and try it then. Or it could be something as simple as changing the input on your screen. On this monitor in particular I believe it is one of the top buttons on the right back side of the monitor.

The screen goes black after a few seconds. Is this

Hi,

When the lcd goes to a black screen after you turn it on within a couple of minutes or right at turn on the problem is the backlight in the lcd are not coming on. One way you can check is to use a flash light by shining it on the screen and look closely to see if you can see any images. Try touching the menu screen on remote to see if you can see image, if you can then the lcd screen is bad and would need to be replaced. The same would be if you can't see any image .this is costly repair but you can take to repair shop to get it checked out for a small fee.

Please get back to us if you have any further query or else accept the solution.

Monitor does not turn on at all

Well kind of. Check your capacitors. If you search on the internet on how to replace the capacitors in a flat panel montior you will find tons of very detailed and informational videos and forums on how to do this. It is really quite simple and none the less cheap.

Monitor won't turn back on

You should either check the cable you are using and possibly the ports on the monitor, if these both seem to be ok then it is probably your capacitors or a loose connection in the monitor. Also could be that your computer is not powering it up, so when you plug it back in make sure your computer power is off and then reboot otherwise it may not wake it up. More than likely the capacitors are going out, and it is still coming on shortly because they actually can hold a charge and they may not all be bad.

The monitor powers on when the computer is turned

I had similar problems with my Monitor. Then eventually the monitor quit working completely. It is probably your capacitors. The reason you are still getting picture is because they are going out one by one if that makes any sense. If you search online for how to change the capacitors in a flat panel monitor there are a ton a very detailed videos and help files on how to do this. If you can solder it is a very easy fix and cheap none the less.

My Westinghouse LCM-22w2 will not

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Westinghouse-LCM-22W2-Monitors-manual/id/582bh530/t/2/
Please use this manual above and troubleshoot with the steps provided. Most likely your power supply may have failed, or the inverter, or backlight, you need to troubleshoot to be able to tell. But if there are No lights on at all. then first of course have you checked, the cable, power Socket, etc.
But if you cannot sort it out yourself, then, it is my professional opinion though that one should take their units to their manufacturers approved service center, contacting a head office, of your unit & getting an approved service center is just SO important, even worth the extra to ship it, you see, at those places, the Engineers, are trained on the equipment you have, they usually have parts on hand, and do the job quicker. Anyway do that and get a "Quote". This way, at least, you'll know weather to repair or replace.

Won't Power-Up

I fixed it! It's the power supply board. You might have the "white screen of death" problem, and if not you may just need a new board. The board is yellow, it has markings on it that you can look up on a search engine for resellers, and I saw several going for $20-35 after searching google.

The Westinghouse LCM 22w2 has bad capacitors on the yellow power supply board. This is a common problem plaguing motherboards and LCD flatpanels that use capacitors from Taiwan. If you know how to solder, or know somebody that can, it's actually a pretty easy fix. Take out the yellow circuit board on the inside, write down the specifications for each of the capacitors (the cylindrical things) go to the electronics supply store and get the replacement capacitors. You can go over the voltage specification (not under), but keep the capacitance value matching. Replace one at a time. Go to www.badcaps.net for advice, tutorials and training on doing this. *You really should replace all the capacitors*, but the very large one next to the power plug I did leave on the board because I couldn't find a match. To my delight, the white screen of death went away and it was working as new!

I saved a ton of money fixing this, it's definitely worth learning how to solder to do this.
