Xerox Phaser 6110 Laser Printer - Page 3 Questions & Answers
The printer has only done about 500 prints. Black
Hi, The faint print in a laser printer can be caused by several things. If the contrast is set too low or the toner level in the cartridge is low, empty or poorly distributed, print quality can appear washed out. Correcting this is easy. Adjust the contrast remove the toner cartridge, inspect it, shake it gently(if in a sealed unit) and retry it. if it doesnt improve try a new cartridge. Other causes of this problem maybe a weakened corona wire, a weakened high-voltage power supply that drives it. Replace the unit that drives the corona wire. Replace the high voltage power supply(get a pro to do this as this can be hazardous). Make sure the latent high voltages have been drained off the power supply before working with it

Xerox Phaser 6110 Banding Cure
As usual, my Phaser 6110N (light use, home office network duty, printed less than 2000 pages in the 4 years or so I've had it) developed a banding issue. Rather than invest in a new toner unit, I decided to take it apart and have a look at it. What I discovered is the toner feed mechanism was clogging up and not distributing toner to the imaging drum.
This is a messy job, I did it in the bathtub (dry of course!), and it's simply a case of removing the side covers from the imaging unit (I'd recommend putting the drum in a thick black plastic bag to prevent overexposure) taking care not to lose any parts, and sliding the toner feeders out of the unit. You can then remove the top cover and it will allow you to clean out the mechanism with a small dry paintbrush.
Remove just enough to de-clog the mechanism, and especially the feed conveyor at the back - this takes toner from the cartridge and feeds to the roller screws that feed the imaging drum.
If you've only got banding problems with one colour, only de-clog that particular colour. It's messy and no point wasting expensive toner! Black and red where problems for me, in both cases the conveyor mechanism was chock full of toner and there was very little in the feeder roller screws.
Re-assemble the imaging unit and run a couple of test patterns through
the printer. You'll probably find that the first few pages are
especially faint - when you first power up the printer from new, it fills the feed mechanisms from the toner cartridge, I haven't found a
way to make it do this again (maybe someone can hack together a
maintainence firmware update?). The more you emptied from the feeder, the
longer it'll take to even it up. Once it's got the page mostly covered,
you're back in business.
After I'd done all this, my banding problem went away! Of course, the bath was covered in toner dust and it took a while to get rid of it all!
Paper jamming almost before it has fed. Suspect
It is a design fault of these machines - seems to be worse if you print lots of labels.
If you take out the imaging unit and the paper tray (so toner doesnt go everywhere) and turn it on its back you will see a rubber roller in the middle of the printer. This is the cause of the problem.
Try cleaning it with alcohol first off.
If that fails you need to rotate the rubber a bit so a new bit is picking up the paper.
To do this there is a white clip that holds the spindle on the axle on the right side looking up the paper path in teh direction teh paper will travel. If you gently lever this up you can slide the white plastic cam shaped end bit in about 1/4 inch that lets you rotate the roller (I cant remember if you rotate it towards you or away) it is really difficult to do and you need to fiddle with teh cam to keep it disengaged. Once you rotate it enough you will see there are two clips - one on each side of teh roller holding teh rubber in place. If you unclip these you will find that the rubber is actually not around the roller but is a giant elastic band looped over the roller in a U shape and held by the plastic clip you just unclipped. You need to find the most unworn bit of the rubber so it meets the paper in the tray and reposition the band and teh clip to suit.
Reassembly is the reverse process - with lots of swearing.
It is actually reasonably easy to do.
If that fails to fix it you need a new rubber (not sure if you can still get these) or you could try packing the roller with a bit of paper to make it grip better. Also to make the rollers life easier you can wedge up the front of the printer with a book about 3 inches thick.

The toner has a chip inside. The chip could be damaged or not reset properly. Please bring it back to where you bought it from to get it exchanged.

Hi,
this problem you can decide only if you have tech skills and tools. Try to
disassemble the printer. On the left side try to find magnetic clutch with small tension spring. This must be the problem. You can disconnect the spring and try to cut a few mm of springs length, so she will become stronger. Then assemble the printer and try to print.
good luck

Hello.
We have a Xerox 6110
There is a problem in the fuser unit.
Unplug the power cord and plug it back.
If it continues:
Check the fuser , you may need to take it out and verify that it does not have paper debris stuck on or in it. If this does not fix it:
If it is under warranty, call support. If not, you need to replace the fuser.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response
Thanks, Joe
